Founded in 1986, Landmark Books is an independent publisher based in Singapore. The company publishes a wide range of genres, spanning art books, cookbooks, heritage, prose, poetry as well as business / investment guides. They also provide publishing and consultancy services. History Landmark Books was founded in 1986 by Goh Eck Kheng He graduated with a law degree from the National University of Singapore. Goh began working at an editorial job in Eastern Universities Press, a subsidiary of United Publishers Services. When both were sold to Times Publishing Company, Times Publishing, he eventually decided to strike out on his own with the creation of Landmark Books. Subsequently, they published their first book, titled "''We Remember: Cameos of Pioneer Life"'' by Yvonne Quahe, which chronicled the oral history of Singaporean pioneers from 1920 to 1930. Adrian Tan
Adrian Tan Gim Hai (born 1966) is a Singaporean lawyer and author. Known for writing the Teenage Texbook series of books in the 1980s, he is the current president of the Law Society of Singapore and a partner at TSMP Law Corporation. Early life and education Tan was born in Singapore to a Hainanese family. His parents were both teachers, and he grew up in a Housing Development Board (HDB) flat. As a child, Tan attended the Anglo-Chinese School and Hwa Chong Junior College. After his A-levels, he was offered a civil-service scholarship to study English in Britain, which would've required him to work as a civil servant after graduation. He turned down the scholarship to study law at the National University of Singapore (NUS). ''The Teenage Textbook'' is a novel by the Singaporean author Adrian Tan, first published by Hotspot Books in 1988. The book was a bestseller in Singapore, and was followed by a sequel, ''The Teenage Workbook'', in 1989. The books followed the life of a female student named Mui Ee, studying at the fictitious Paya Lebar Junior College in Singapore. The two books sold over 50,000 copies. Tan wrote the books while he was an undergraduate law student at the National University of Singapore. In 2015, ''The Teenage Textbook'' was selected by '' The Business Times'' as one of the Top 10 English Singapore books from 1965–2015, alongside titles by Arthur Yap and Daren Shiau. Simon Tay Seong Chee () is a Singaporean lawyer and legal academic who served as a Nominated Member of Parliament between 1997 and 2003. Early life and education Tay was born on 4 January 1961 in Singapore. His father, Tay Seow Huah, was a senior civil servant. Tay graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 with a Bachelor of Laws with honours degree. During his time as an undergraduate, Tay served as the president of the NUS Students' Union for three terms.
