Landan Rooney
Landan Rooney (born February 19, 2002) is a Canadian curler from Mississauga, Ontario. He currently plays third on Team Pat Ferris. Career Rooney and teammates Matthew Prenevost, Kevin Genjaga, Benjamin Lobo competed in the 2019 Ontario U-21 Curling Championships, finishing with a 3–4 record. The following year, Rooney with new teammates Gavin Lydiate, Christopher Oka and Riley Fung-Ernst returned to the Ontario U-21, finishing with a 4–3 record. Rooney competed in the 2021 World Junior Qualification Event, playing third for Scott Mitchell. The event was held as a replacement tournament for the Canadian Junior Curling Championships, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. Jacob Jones (curler)
Jacob Jones (born September 14, 2001) is a Canadian curler from Brantford, Ontario. He is a former Canadian junior champion. Curling career Youth Jones began curling at age 7 at the Brant Curling Club. In 2020, Jones' Mohawk College rink qualified for the CCAA/Curling Canada College Curling Championships, and his team U18 team also qualified for the Canadian U18 Curling Championships. This caused a conflict as they were being held at the same time, though the Mohawk team would not have been able to play due to a lack of players. Both events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario. At the end of the season, he was named the college's male athlete of the year. Mike McEwen (curler)
Michael McEwen (born July 30, 1980 in Brandon, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. McEwen won six Grand Slams in his career before his team qualified for their first Brier, Canada's national championship in 2016. He is noted as one of the top curlers using the Manitoba tuck delivery today. Career Early career In 1998, McEwen won his first of two Manitoba Junior championships, sending him and his team of David Chalmers, Bryce Granger and Kevin Schmidt to the 1998 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, he led his Manitoba rink to 9-3 round robin record, in 2nd place. This put the team in a semifinal match up against Ontario's John Morris. McEwen would lose the match 8–4, settling for third place. 2023 Ontario Tankard
The 2023 Ontario Tankard, (known as the Port Elgin Chrysler 2023 Ontario Tankard Presented by Bruce Power for sponsorship reasons), the provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 24 to 29 at The Plex in Port Elgin, Ontario. The winning Mike McEwen rink represented Ontario at the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier on home soil in London, Ontario where they finished fourth place losing in the 3 vs. 4 Page Playoff game to Wild Card #1 6–3. It was the second straight year that the event was held in Port Elgin. The 2022 event had been subject to COVID-19 restrictions, capping attendance at 500 people per draw, so the organizers requested that CurlON hold the event in Port Elgin again. Brendan Bottcher
Brendan Michael Bottcher (born December 19, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Sherwood Park, Alberta. Bottcher is a three-time provincial men's champion, and was the skip of the 2021 Canadian men's championship team, having led Alberta to victory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier. Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Bottcher enjoyed a successful junior career winning the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships. He was also the 2010 Alberta junior men's champion and the 2007 Alberta juvenile provincial finalist. Bottcher skips his own team out of the Saville Sports Centre in Edmonton. The 2022 PointsBet Invitational curling tournament was held from September 21 to 25 at the Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The event featured thirty-two Canadian teams and was the first major event of the "Season of Champions" of the 2022–23 season. It was played in a single-elimination tournament with the winning men's and women's teams of Reid Carruthers and Jennifer Jones receiving $50,000 each. Qualification The top 12 ranked men's and women's Canadian teams on the revamped World Curling Federation's world team rankings qualified for the event.
