Land Of College Prophets
''Land of College Prophets'' is a 2005 independent comedy film produced by Thomas Edward Seymour, Mike Aransky and Phil Guerette. Originally distributed on Netflix in 2005, ''Prophets'' was one of the first of the "backyard superhero" subgenres of films, pre-dating James Gunn's ''Super, Defendor, Special'', ''Kick Ass'' and so on. The film involves low-level superheroes at a community college that awaken a haunted wishing well. The film mixes comedy with science fiction in a tale of two brawling college students (Guerrette and Seymour) who accidentally reactivate a dormant well that spews toxic liquids into the surrounding community, resulting in abrupt and deadly changes within nature and people. Thomas Edward Seymour (born January 20, 1977, in New Britain, Connecticut) is an American filmmaker and actor. Tom Seymour is considered one of the "Top Twenty Contemporary Underground Filmmakers in the U.S.", according to the book ''The History of Independent Cinema'', He is most known for the award-winning documentaries ''VHS Massacre,'' ''VHS Massacre Too'', and ''MacLeod'', distributed by FilmRise, NBC/Universal Peacock TV, MUBI, Shudder's Mid May Massacre and Troma Entertainment (2016–2021). The documentaries feature Joe Bob Briggs, James Rolfe, Greg Sestero, Debbie Rochon, Lloyd Kaufman, Juliette Danielle and Kevin MacLeod. Russ Russo (born December 2, 1975) is an American film actor. His work includes Catch Hell, ''Williamsburg'', and the thriller ''An Act of War''. Early life Russo was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Paul DeSimone is a Boston-based bodybuilder and filmmaker. DeSimone began weight training in 1994. In 1999, he won the AAU Teen Mr. Massachusetts tournament and placed fourth tin the Teen Mr. America tournament. The New Haven Underground Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Connecticut, United States. The Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival was founded in 1999 by the Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI) in the city of Muskogee, Oklahoma, United States to showcase independent motion picture projects with budgets of less than 1 million dollars (hence "bare bones"). ''London Betty'' is a 2009 American comedy/adventure film directed and written by Thomas Edward Seymour.
