Lanchkhuti District
Lanchkhuti ( ka, ლანჩხუთის მუნიციპალიტეტი, ''Lančxutis municip’alit’et’i'') is a district of Georgia, in the region of Guria. Its main town is Lanchkhuti. Lanchkhuti municipality is located in western Georgia, northwest of the Guria Mountains, bordered on the west by an Black Sea coast. The municipality occupies of the Kolkheti National Park, the purpose of which is to protect the flora and fauna in the Kolkheti lowlands, as well as to preserve nature intact. The villages of the mountainous zone are located . At an altitude above sea level, the villages of the lowland zone are mainly bordered by Kolkheti National Park. Most of the municipality is a subtropical zone. Lanchkhuti is away from Tbilisi, away from Batumi, away from Poti. Shukhuti
Shukhuti (Georgian: ) is a village community near Lanchkhuti, Guria, Georgia, which includes the villages of Zemo Shukhuti and Kvemo Shukhuti. The area produces limestone, which is used for making lime. History The area has been inhabited since antiquity. A Roman villa with a bath mosaic, the Shukhuti mosaic, was discovered here during excavations in 1961. The inhabitants have been Christians since the 5th or 6th centuries. A castle was located there at that time. The name "Shukhuti" is first recorded in the 1708 documents. According to tradition, it originated from the Turks, who called this place ''ukhuti'' ("impossible"). In 1855, during the Crimean War, the Battle of Nigoiti () was fought nearby between the Russian and Ottoman forces. Lelo Shukhutis play a type of rugby, called ''Lelo'' every Easter to commemorate the battle. The President of Georgia visited the village in 2012 to watch the game. Lelo for Georgia () is a centrist liberal political party in Georgia that was created at the end of 2019 by businessmen Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. The party has attracted a number of prominent political figures and parties (through mergers), including David Usupashvili's Development Movement, the New Rights Party and Pikria Chikhradze. Supsa
Supsa ( ka, სუფსა) is a Black Sea port village in western Georgia with the population of 273 (2014). It is located in the Lanchkhuti Municipality, on the river Supsa. It is the terminus of the Western Early Oil pipeline from Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea oil fields. In 2011 a cement plant was put into operation. There is a railway station (Samtredia–Batumi railway) in the village. European route E692 passes through Supsa and has a junction with European route E70 near the village.
