Lance Fung
Lance Fung is an art curator who has been responsible for several major exhibitions including "Snow Show" at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. In 1999 Fung founded Fung Collaboratives, an inter-disciplinary arts organization. Most recently, Fung transformed vacant lots in Atlantic City into a park system through his exhibition ''Artlantic''. These “giant living sculptures” attract local residents and visiting art enthusiasts to experience art in “green” settings designed by Fung and the participants Diana Balmori, Robert Barry, Peter Hutchinson, Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, John Roloff, and Kiki Smith. Fung is curating ''Nonuments'' in Washington D.C. for the 5 x 5 project organized by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Curator
A curator (from la, cura, meaning "to take care") is a manager or overseer. When working with cultural organizations, a curator is typically a "collections curator" or an "exhibitions curator", and has multifaceted tasks dependent on the particular institution and its mission. In recent years the role of curator has evolved alongside the changing role of museums, and the term "curator" may designate the head of any given division. More recently, new kinds of curators have started to emerge: "community curators", "literary curators", " digital curators" and " biocurators". 2006 Winter Olympics
The 2006 Winter Olympics, officially the XX Olympic Winter Games ( it, XX Giochi olimpici invernali) and also known as Torino 2006, were a winter multi-sport event held from 10 to 26 February 2006 in Turin, Italy. This marked the second time Italy had hosted the Winter Olympics, the first being in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo; Italy had also hosted the Summer Olympics in 1960 in Rome. Turin was selected as the host city for the 2006 Games in June 1999. The official motto of Torino 2006 was "Passion lives here". The Games' logo depicted a stylized profile of the Mole Antonelliana building, drawn in white and blue ice crystals, signifying the snow and the sky. The crystal web was also meant to portray the web of new technologies and the Olympic spirit of community. John Roloff
John Roloff (b. 1947) is an American sculptor and conceptual craft artist. He is known for his site-specific work dealing with natural systems and the environment. Education and early life Roloff was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1947. He attended UC Davis where he studied geology and art. He completed his graduate work in 1973. Work During the late 1970s through the early 1990s, Roloff produced a series of site-specific kiln/furnace pieces. In addition to ceramic work and sculpture, Roloff has created numerous works of public art including the work, ''Green Glass Ship–Deep Gradient/Suspect Terrain,'' at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. DC Commission On The Arts And Humanities
The D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) is an agency of the District of Columbia government. As of October 2022, the Interim Executive Director is David Markey. CAH was created as an outgrowth of the U.S. Congress Act that established the National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities of 1965. The Foundation provided for four operating federal agencies including the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Renato Miracco
Renato Miracco (born 1953) is a scholar, art critic, and curator from Naples, Italy. Formerly the Cultural Attaché of the Italian Embassy in Washington, he is presently the member of the Board of Guarantors for the Italian Academy at Columbia University. He has curated numerous important exhibitions on Italian art worldwide and has published widely. Miracco was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for Cultural Achievements in 2018 and received a Green Card for Exceptional Ability, from President Obama.
