Charles Adcock Lamp (3 September 1895 – 17 April 1972) was an Australian politician and trade unionist. He was a Senator for Tasmania from 1938 to 1950, representing the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He also served terms as the party's state secretary and state president in Tasmania and was state president of the Australian Railways Union. Early life Lamp was born on 3 September 1895 in Hobart, Tasmania. He was the son of Rosina () and John Frederick August Lamp. His paternal grandfather was a German seaman who jumped ship in South Australia and later made his way to Tasmania. Lamp attended a state school in Queenstown on Tasmania's West Coast. He initially trained as a cabinetmaker after leaving school, later taking up an apprenticeship with Gurr and Sons, a Launceston shipbuilding firm. Dennis Patrick Lamp (born September 23, 1952) is a former professional baseball pitcher in Major League Baseball. From 1977 through 1992, the breaking ball specialist played for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and Pittsburgh Pirates. Career Lamp was born in Los Angeles, California. Lamp was selected in the third round (62nd overall) by the Cubs in that year's MLB Draft. After graduating from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California in 1971, Lamp began his career as a Cub, but was traded to the crosstown Chicago White Sox for pitcher Ken Kravec. His seven wins and 15 saves helped the White Sox win their division by a whopping 20 games and reach the ALCS. A month later, he was granted free agency and signed with the Toronto Blue Jays. He played college football at Western Kentucky and was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Early years Lamp attended Venice High School in Venice, Florida. He played both offensive and defensive line. He committed to Western Kentucky University to play college football. College career Lamp redshirted his first year at Western Kentucky in 2012. Jeffrey Alan Lamp (born March 9, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player who played six seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lamp played college basketball for the University of Virginia, where he was an All-American. At a height of 6'6", he played shooting guard and small forward. High school career Lamp attended and played competitively at Ballard High School, in Louisville, Kentucky. College career Lamp played from 1977 to 1981 for the Virginia Cavaliers. Lamp was an All-ACC selection in each of his four seasons at UVa (1978–81). He finished with 2,317 career points which was a school record until broken by Bryant Stith (2,516) in 1992.
