Lambeth and Southwark is a constituency represented in the London Assembly. It consists of the London Borough of Lambeth and London Borough of Southwark. Lambeth And Southwark Shown Within London
Lambeth () is a district in South London, England, in the London Borough of Lambeth, historically in the County of Surrey. It is situated south of Charing Cross. The population of the London Borough of Lambeth was 303,086 in 2011. The area experienced some slight growth in the medieval period as part of the manor of Lambeth Palace. By the Victorian era the area had seen significant development as London expanded, with dense industrial, commercial and residential buildings located adjacent to one another. The changes brought by World War II altered much of the fabric of Lambeth. Subsequent development in the late 20th and early 21st centuries has seen an increase in the number of high-rise buildings. 2012 London Mayoral Election
The 2012 London mayoral election was an election held on Thursday 3 May 2012, to elect the Mayor of London. It was held on the same day as the London Assembly election, and used a supplementary vote system. The election was won by the incumbent mayor Boris Johnson of the Conservative Party, who was seeking re-election for a second term as Mayor. Ken Livingstone, who had been Mayor between 2000 and 2008, was seeking a third, non-consecutive term as the Labour candidate. No other candidates received 5% of the vote (the threshold for retaining their deposit). Kellie Maloney (born Francis Maloney, 23 January 1953) is an English boxing manager and promoter, and television personality. She managed Lennox Lewis between 1989 and 2001, who earned the title of undisputed heavyweight championship of the world under Maloney. 2004 London Assembly Election
An election to the Assembly of London took place on 10 June 2004, along with the 2004 London mayoral election. The Assembly is elected by the Additional Member System. There are fourteen directly elected constituencies, nine of which were won by the Conservatives and five by the Labour Party. An additional eleven members were allocated by a London wide top-up vote, with the proviso that parties must win at least 5% of the vote to qualify for list seats. This latter rule prevented both the British National Party and the Respect Party from winning a seat each as both fell just short of the 5% threshold. Jasmijn De Boo
Jasmijn de Boo ( ; born August 1975) is a Dutch veganism and animal rights activist and the vice president of ProVeg International. Career De Boo worked at the (now defunct) European Resource Centre for Alternatives in higher education (EURCA) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Later, she co-developed an animal welfare syllabus for veterinary students, on behalf of the UK branch of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (now World Animal Protection) and the University of Bristol School of Veterinary Science. It was launched in 2003. In 2006, de Boo founded the UK political party Animals Count (now Animal Welfare Party). Caroline Valerie Pidgeon (born 29 September 1972) is a British politician serving as the Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly since 2018, and a Londonwide Member of the London Assembly (AM) since 2008. Early life and education Pidgeon was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire, on 29 September 1972, to Eric and Valerie Pidgeon. Valerie Shawcross is a British politician who served as Deputy Mayor of London for Transport from 2016 to 2018. A member of the Labour Co-operative parties, she was Member of the London Assembly for Lambeth and Southwark from 2000 to 2016. Shawcross was a Member of Croydon London Borough Council from 1994 to 2000, and served as Leader of the Council from 1997 to 2000. She unsuccessfully stood, as the Labour candidate, to become Mayor of Croydon in 2022.
