The Lambayeque Province is the largest of three provinces in Peru's Lambayeque Region. Provinces Of Peru
The provinces of Peru () are the second-level administrative subdivisions of the country. They are divided into Districts of Peru, districts ( es, distritos, links=no). There are 196 provinces in Peru, grouped into 25 Regions of Peru, regions, except for Lima Province which does not belong to any region. This makes an average of seven provinces per region. The region with the fewest provinces is Callao (one) and the region with the most is Ancash Region, Ancash (twenty). While provinces in the sparsely populated Amazon rain forest of eastern Peru tend to be larger, there is a large concentration of them in the north-central area of the country. The province with the fewest districts is Purús Province, with just one district. The province with the most districts is Lima Province, with 43 districts. Illimo District

The district of Illimo is one of twelve districts in the Lambayeque Region of northern Peru. Its origin dates back to the Moche (culture) during the Early Intermediate Cultural periods of Peru. The city is known for the sacrificial knife, the Tumi, that was discovered in the Batán Grande Reserved Zone by archeologist, Julio C. Tello, in 1936. More recently in 1996, archeologist, Walter Alva, found the tomb of Guillermo of Illimo, that included the first discovery of Lambayeque clothing which, at the time, had only been known based on iconography depicted on previously excavated pottery. Olmos District
Olmos District is one of twelve Districts of Peru, districts of the province Lambayeque Province, Lambayeque in Peru. History The name of the district comes from the town of Olmos, meaning "elms", because the pale bark of the trees in the surrounding forest reminded the Spanish settlers of the elm trees back in Spain. At the time of the arrival of the Spaniards the area was occupied by the Quechuas and the extensive region of Olmos was administered by the Kingdom (''curacazgo'') of Copiz, which was under the Inca Empire. The pre-existing town was recognized in 1544 by the viceroy Blasco Núñez Vela. Hydrographics The major river in the district is the Olmos River. Other important rivers are the Cascajal River, the Insculás River, the Ñaupe River, and the San Cristóbal River. Jayanca District
Jayanca District is one of twelve districts of the Lambayeque Province in the Lambayeque region, Peru. History The district's origin is unclear, however in his book ''Misceláneas Australes'' Enrique Brünning reports that the valley was settled by Llapchillully, the favored tailor of Naylamp, the mythical founder of Lambayeque. American anthropologist Izumi Shimada has claimed that the district's first inhabitants, the Sarayoq, belonged to the Andean civilization known as Chavín de Huántar, who formed their first rural settlements in the fertile valleys of Jayanca, Salas, and Motupe. Lambayeque Region
Lambayeque () is a department and region in northwestern Peru known for its rich Moche and Chimú historical past. The region's name originates from the ancient pre-Inca civilization of the '' Lambayeque''. It is the second-smallest department in Peru after Tumbes, but it is also its most densely populated department and its eighth most populous department.
