GM Quader
Ghulam Muhammed Quader ( bn, গোলাম মোহাম্মদ কাদের; born 24 February 1948), better known as GM Quader, is a Bangladeshi politician and the current chairperson of Jatiya Party. He is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member from the Lalmonirhat-3 constituency. He served as the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism from 2009 to 2014. Early life and family Quader was born on 24 February 1948 to a Bengali Muslim family with roots in Dinhata. His parents were Mokbul Hossain and Majida Khatun. Mokbul was a lawyer and served as a minister of the erstwhile Maharaja of Cooch Behar. Abul Hossain (politician)
Abul Hossain ( – 16 December 2016) was a Bangladeshi freedom fighter politician from Lalmonirhat belonging to Bangladesh Awami League. He was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad. Biography Hossain was elected as a member of the Pakistan National Assembly in 1970. He took part in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. After the liberation he was elected as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad from Rangpur-14 in 1973. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. The BBC News reported that they were marred by violence and allegations of vote rigging. Opposition leader Kamal Hossain rejected the results, calling it "farcical" and demanding fresh elections to be held under a neutral government. Asadul Habib Dulu
Asadul Habib Dulu is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the former Member of Parliament from Lalmonirhat Sadar. He was a deputy minister of food and disaster management during 2001 to 2006. Career Dulu is the organizing secretary, Rangpur division, of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Corruption charges In October 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) released a list of 35 graft suspects which including Dulu. However, in October 2008, ACC exempted him from the graft charges due to lack of enough evidence but they filed a charge on misappropriating 201 pieces of corrugated iron sheets against Dulu. On 24 January 2009, ACC filed a case against Dulu accusing him for amassing illegal wealth and concealing wealth information in the statements submitted to the commission in February 2007. Jatiya Sangsad
The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament, or MP. 1991 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 27 February 1991. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) emerged as the largest party in parliament, winning 140 of the 300 directly-elected seats. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014, in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 single-seat constituencies of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and including 484 independents.
