Batala is the eighth largest city in the state of Punjab, India in terms of population after Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Mohali and Hoshiarpur. Ashwani Sekhri is an Indian politician and a member of Indian National Congress. He was a Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly (MLA) and represented Batala.
