''Lakh Taka'' is a Bengali drama film directed by Niren Lahiri, and starring Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Bhanu Banerjee, Chhabi Biswas and Jahor Roy. The music direction is by Shyamal Mitra and Niren Lahiri. It was released on 1 January 1953 in the banner of Satabdi Chitra Pratisthan. Plot The movie tells about the story of fakkaram a.k.a fakka and his love along with his family and his greedy relatives in search of a valuable amount of money left by a millionaire. Niren Lahiri
Niren Lahiri or Nirendranath Lahiri (17 July 1908 – 2 December 1972) was a Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali and Hindi film director. He received 9th Annual BFJA Awards in 1946 and 2nd National Film Awards in 1955. Career Lahiri was born in Kolkata, British India in 1907. His father's name was Jitendra Nath Lahiri. Initially he started his career as an actor in Pramathesh Barua’s studio. He worked with Mr. Barua at New Theatres. He acted in ''Abhinav'' in 1940 directed by Debaki Bose. Lahiri was the music director of ''Ashiana'', ''Tarubala'' and ''Annapurnar Mandir'' in 1936. In 1940 he made his directional debut in the film ''Byabodhan''. He became popular after directing ''Bhabhi Kaal'' in 1945. He directed about 27 films including Bengali and Hindi cinema. Lahiri died in 1972. Renuka, also known as Yellamma, is a Hindu goddess worshipped predominantly in the South Indian states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and western state of Maharashtra. Shyam Laha (26 November 1911 – 25 October 1973) was an Indian actor in Bengali and Hindi-language films. He was known for his comic acting. Early life Shyam Laha was born in 1911 in Kolkata, British India. His original name was Kashinath Shil. Laha passed matriculation from Bangabashi Collegiate School. He was interested in music, playing the ''Tabla''. Career Actor Pahari Sanyal was impressed by Laha at a function of the Bengali club in Lucknow and introduced him to Bengali director cum actor Pramathesh Barua. Laha became popular after acting in Debaki Bose's film ''Chandidas''. He acted in the first animated Bengali film Pear Brothers in 1934. Jahar Roy (19 September 1919 – 1 August 1977) was an Indian actor and comedian in Bengali cinema. He was known for his comedy films with Bhanu Bandyopadhyay. Early life Roy came from a Bengali Baidya family having its root in Mahilara, Barisal District (of the present Bangladesh). His father Satya Roy was also an actor and later moved to Patna, in search of livelihood. It is here where Jahar Roy completed his studies and started working on odd jobs such as proof reader, medical representative and finally a tailor. He left all these and came to Calcutta around 1946. Bhanu Bandyopadhyay, also known as Bhanu Banerjee (born as Samyamoy Bandyopadhyay; 26 August 1920 – 4 March 1983), was an Indian actor, known for his work in Bengali cinema.
