Laketown, Illinois
Laketown is an unincorporated community in Woodside Township, Sangamon County, Illinois, entirely surrounded by the city of Springfield, Illinois, Springfield. It is made up of three residential subdivision, subdivisions: Southlawn, Lake Springfield Estates, and Circle Drive. There are approximately 970 homes in Laketown, as well as various small businesses. Laketown takes its name from nearby Lake Springfield but does not directly adjoin the lake. The community's boundaries are defined by Stevenson Drive on the north, West Lake Shore Drive on the east, the Canadian National (formerly Illinois Central Gulf Railroad) tracks on the west, and either Circle Drive or Interstate 55 in Illinois, Interstate 55 on the south. Although outside the city limits, Laketown has long received various services from entities associated with the city, such as Springfield School District 186 and the Springfield Park District. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), all land. Climate This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Laketown has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfb" on climate maps. Laketown is a town in Polk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 918 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Atlas is located in the town. The unincorporated communities of Cushing and Pole Cat Crossing are also located partially in the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.8 square miles (92.6 km2), of which, 34.2 square miles (88.7 km2) of it is land and 1.5 square miles (4.0 km2) of it (4.28%) is water. Laketown Township is a township in Carver County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,331 as of the 2000 census. Laketown Township, Michigan
Laketown Township is a civil township of Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,505 at the 2010 census. Communities Castle Park is an unincorporated private community in the township, consisting of approximately 100 cottages and summer houses along Lake Michigan. It is situated on the former Castle Park estate of Michael Schwarz. Schwarz's brick, turreted castle-style house, built in 1890, now serves as the enclave's community center. There was a post office here from 1903 until 1953. Macatawa is a small unincorporated community near Lake Michigan on Lake Macatawa that once was home to resorts catering to visitors from Chicago. Nearly all that remains of these resorts was destroyed in several fires. It is now home to primarily cottages.
