This is a list of lakes in Slovenia. In Slovenia, there are 321 body of water, bodies of water classified as lakes, which includes Lake#How lakes disappear, intermittent lakes and artificial reservoirs. Most of the lakes in the country have glacial origin and many are intermittent because of the Karst topography, Karst surface. The largest glacial lakes are Lake Bled (147 acre, ha) and Lake Bohinj (318 ha), and the largest intermittent lake is Lake Cerknica (2500 ha when completely filled). Bled Overview
Bled (; german: Veldes,''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 146. in older sources also ''Feldes'') is a town on Lake Bled in the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia. It is the administrative seat of the Municipality of Bled. It is most notable as a popular Resort town, tourist destination in the Upper Carniola region and in Slovenia as whole, attracting visitors from abroad too. Name The town was first attested in written sources as ''Ueldes'' in 1004 (and as ''Veldes'' in 1011). The etymology of the name is unknown and it is believed to be of pre-Slavic origin. Black Lake (Slovenia)
Black Lake ( sl, Črno jezero) () is the lowest-lying lake in the Triglav Lakes Valley, part of the Julian Alps in Slovenia. Lake Palčje
Lake Palčje ( sl, Palško jezero) is an intermittent lake in the Pivka basin north of the settlement Palčje in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It fills an oval-shaped karst depression, crossed by Pivka, and approximately long and wide. Its bottom is relatively level at between above the sea, but the banks are steep. Lake Kreda
Lake Kreda is a man-made lake in the Radovna Valley in northwestern Slovenia. The lake got its name from the chalk ( sl, kreda) that was mined in the area until 1985. The digging also created a basin, which gradually filled with water and the lake appeared. The mining ceased because it was unprofitable and due to conservation concerns (the area is within Triglav National Park), but the lake remained and is now occasionally used as a recreation site. Today, the lake and its surrounding wetlands are an important habitat for amphibians, such as the common frog and the common toad in the Radovna Valley.
