The Lake Wendouree Football Netball Club (nicknamed the ''Lakers'') is an Australian rules football and netball club located in the Ballarat North suburb of Victoria. The football squad currently competes in the Ballarat Football League. The club is a result of a merger of the Wendouree Football Club and the Ballarat YCW Football Club at the end of 1994. ''Lake Wendouree Football Club'' competed in the Ballarat Football League for the first time in 1995. The club was runner up in its second season and played finals every year for the first six seasons. Home ground The football squad play their home matches at C.E. Brown Reserve, Ballarat North. The Ballarat Football League (BFL) is an Australian rules football competition that operates in the Ballarat region of Victoria, Australia. The competition formed in 1893 as the Ballarat Football Association and was renamed Ballarat Football League in 1908 and was briefly known as the Ballarat-Wimmera Football League between 1934 and 1936. Overview The league features 11 senior clubs. North Ballarat City Football Club joined the league in 2008 season raising the number of teams to the present number. North Ballarat City previously played in the Bendigo Football League for the previous two seasons prior to joining. James McDonald (Australian Footballer)
James McDonald (born 5 October 1976) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Nicknamed "Junior", James is the brother of former AFL players Anthony McDonald and Alex McDonald. He is noted as a hard working in and under midfielder. In addition to this, he is also used as a tagger. In 1995, McDonald suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome with his VAFA side Old Xaverians. He debuted in the AFL in 1997 with the Melbourne Football Club after being promoted off the Rookie list. Daniel Butler (born 3 June 1996) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played 45 matches over a five-year tenure at , after being drafted by the club in the fourth round of the 2014 AFL national draft. James Walker (born 15 January 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He mainly played as a midfielder or a small defender. Mark Orchard (footballer)
Mark Orchard (born 2 April 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is of Irish descent. Orchard started his career playing for Ballarat local Catholic junior club YCWCYC and St. Patricks College in Ballarat, then East Ballarat and was playing for the town's Under-18s when Collingwood selected him in the 1994 AFL draft.
