Lake Valley (formerly, Bigler Lake Valley) is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. It extends for along the Upper Truckee River from Lake Tahoe to Meyers, at an elevation of 6207 feet (1892 m). The place was founded in or before 1853. There was a pony express remount station at the top of the valley in the early 1860s. Meyers (also Yanks, Yank's Station, and Tahoe Paradise) is a small unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California, United States, along U.S. Route 50 in the northern Sierra Nevada. It is south of South Lake Tahoe in the Lake Tahoe area and lies at an elevation of . Established in 1851, Meyers started out as a stagecoach stop, trading post and Pony Express station. The Pony Express was an American express mail service that used relays of horse-mounted riders. It operated from April 3, 1860, to October 26, 1861, between Missouri and California. It was operated by the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. During its 18 months of operation, the Pony Express reduced the time for messages to travel between the east and west US coast to about 10 days. Bijou (formerly, Taylors Landing and Taylor's Landing) is a former unincorporated community now incorporated in South Lake Tahoe in El Dorado County, California.
