Lake Solitude (Wyoming)
Lake Solitude is a lake located in Grand Teton National Park, in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The in circumference natural lake is situated at the head of north Cascade Canyon and is a popular destination for hikers and backpackers. Cathedral Group
The Cathedral Group is the group of the tallest mountains of the Teton Range, all of which are located in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The Cathedral Group are classic alpine peaks, with pyramidal shapes caused by glacial motion. The highest peak in the group is Grand Teton, which rises more than above Jackson Hole valley, and is the second tallest mountain in Wyoming, after Gannett Peak. Paintbrush Canyon Trail
The Paintbrush Canyon Trail is a long hiking trail in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Access to the Paintbrush Canyon Trail is from the String Lake trailhead. From there the trail follows the west shore of String Lake and is also known as the String Lake Trail. The Paintbrush Canyon Trail then enters Paintbrush Canyon and becomes steeper and then splits with one trail heading to Holly Lake and the other heading south then west. The trails merge west of Holly Lake and it is a steady altitude gain the last to Paintbrush Divide. The east approach to Paintbrush Divide is steep and may require the use of an ice axe through July. Paintbrush Canyon
Paintbrush Canyon is located in Grand Teton National Park, in the U. S. state of Wyoming. The Lake Solitude Trail is a long hiking trail in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The trail begins at the Forks of Cascade Canyon and follows Cascade Creek up through North Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude. The Cascade Canyon Trail is a round-trip long hiking trail in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Description The trailhead is at the South Jenny Lake parking area and follows the Jenny Lake Trail around the south shore of Jenny Lake to the Forks of Cascade Canyon. Jenny Lake
Jenny Lake is located in Grand Teton National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Teewinot Mountain
Teewinot Mountain () is the sixth highest peak in the Teton Range, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. The name of the mountain is derived from the Shoshone Native American word meaning "many pinnacles". The peak is northeast of the Grand Teton, and the two are separated from one another by the Teton Glacier and Mount Owen. Teewinot Mountain rises more than above Jenny Lake. Cascade Canyon
Cascade Canyon is located in Grand Teton National Park, in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Glacial Lake
A glacial lake is a body of water with origins from glacier activity. They are formed when a glacier erodes the land and then melts, filling the depression created by the glacier. Formation Near the end of the last glacial period, roughly 10,000 years ago, glaciers began to retreat. A retreating glacier often left behind large deposits of ice in hollows between drumlins or hills. As the ice age ended, these melted to create lakes. This is apparent in the Lake District in Northwestern England where post-glacial sediments are normally between 4 and 6 metres deep. These lakes are often surrounded by drumlins, along with other evidence of the glacier such as moraines, eskers and erosional features such as striations and chatter marks.
