Lake Czorsztyn
Lake Czorsztyn ( pl, Jezioro Czorsztyńskie) is a man-made reservoir on the Dunajec river, southern Poland, between the Pieniny and the Gorce Mountains. It exists due to a dam in the village of Niedzica. The dam itself was completed in 1995. Its measurements are: high, long and wide on top. The lake has the area ranging from to . Usually, its area is approximately , with the length of and width of . Maximum depth is , and average depth is . Total length of the shoreline is . Below the dam there is a much smaller Sromowce Lake, which regulates the water level of Czorsztyn Lake. Main purpose of the reservoir is to prevent floods in the Dunajec river valley. Niedzica Castle
Niedzica Castle also known as Dunajec Castle ( lat, Castrum de Dunajecz, hu, Nedec Váralja / Nedec-Vár, german: Sub-Arx Unterschloss, sk, Nedecký hrad), is located in the southernmost part of Poland in Niedzica ( Nowy Targ County in Lesser Poland). It was erected between the years 1320 and 1326 by Kokos of Brezovica on the site of an ancient stronghold surrounded by earthen walls in the Pieniny mountains. The Niedzica Castle stands at an altitude of 566 m, on a hill upstream from the Dunajec River mouth, measured from the center of the dam on Lake Czorsztyn. Maniowy
Maniowy is a village in southern Poland situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship about east of Nowy Targ and south of the regional capital Kraków. It has been the seat of the district of Gmina Czorsztyn since 1993. Located on the southern slopes of the Gorce Mountains, new Maniowy was built in 1970-1980s after having been moved to a higher altitude, from an area upon which Lake Czorsztyn now stretches. The history of the old village reached back to at least 1326 when it was founded during the colonisation of the Podhale region. The present village has a modern architecture of houses with several large buildings (for example Saint Nicholas Church and the gym hall) and is inhabited by over 2000 people. Czorsztyn Castle
The ruins of Czorsztyn Castle (german: Sub-Arx Oberschloss, Arx Czorstein) are located in the southernmost part of Poland in Czorsztyn ( Nowy Targ County in Lesser Poland), at Czorsztyn Lake within Pieniny National Park borders. Gorce Mountains
The Gorce Mountains ( pl, Gorce ) are part of the Western Beskids mountain range spreading across southernmost Poland. They are situated in Małopolska Province, at the western tip of the long Carpathian range extending east beyond the Dunajec River for some . The Gorce are characterized by numerous ridges reaching in all directions for up to with a series of higher elevations cut by deep river valleys.
