Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine are a pair of man-made lakes located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, serving as a tourist attraction for the area. Both Lakes were developed by Arkansas Power & Light. History Lake Hamilton Lake Hamilton is a reservoir near Lake Hamilton, Arkansas and Hot Springs, Arkansas, located on the Ouachita River. It was named after Hamilton Moses, who later became president and chairman of the board for Arkansas Power and Light. The lake was created in 1932, formed as a result of Carpenter Dam (after Flavius Josephus Carpenter) which was constructed to generate hydroelectric power. The dam, which extends in a length of and a height of high, was completed in earlier in 1931. The lake subsequently functioned as a recreational site after it started attracted tourists, later spurring the development of resorts, restaurants, and motels in its area, along with various water sport facilities. Lake Catherine is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,279. Geography Lake Catherine is located in northwestern Lake County at (42.483969, -88.124172). It is bordered to the north by Kenosha County, Wisconsin, to the east by the village of Antioch, and to the west by the community of Channel Lake. It surrounds Lake Catherine, a bay of Channel Lake, one of the Chain O'Lakes of northern Illinois. Illinois Route 173 passes through the community, leading east through Antioch village to Zion and west to Richmond. Chicago is to the southeast, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, is to the northeast. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Lake Catherine CDP has a total area of , of which are land and , or 37.45%, are water. Lake Katherine
Santa Fe Baldy is a prominent summit in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico, United States, located 15 mi (24 km) northeast of Santa Fe. There are no higher mountains in New Mexico south of Santa Fe Baldy. It is prominent as seen from Los Alamos and communities along the Rio Grande in northern New Mexico, but is relatively inconspicuous from Santa Fe, as its north-south trending main ridge line is seen nearly end-on, disguising the size of the mountain. Tree line in the Sangre de Cristos is unusually high (exceeding in places) and only the top of the mountain is perpetually free of trees, but several severe forest fires have created bare spots extending to lower elevations. An extensive region of aspen trees on its flanks produces spectacular orange-yellow coloration during the fall that is the subject of many photographic studies. Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve
Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve is located in Jackson County, Ohio, United States, just northwest of and outside the city of Jackson. It is owned and administered by the State Division of Natural Areas and Preserves and comprises . The nature preserve is centered at Lake Katharine, an artificial lake. The valley is a small gorge, located in southerly extensions of the same geological series of rocks that forms the Hocking Hills Region. The bluffs are formed of weathering-resistant sandstone, including the blackhand sandstone. The stream that drains the lake is a tributary of Little Salt Creek, which flows through the eastern end of the reserve. This nature preserve represents the northernmost extension of some southern species, such as bigleaf magnolia ('' Magnolia macrophylla'') and umbrella magnolia (''Magnolia tripetala''), but also includes more northerly species such as wolf-foot clubmoss (''Lycopodium clavatum'').
