Lajos Vákár
Lajos Vákár (; 8 September 1910 – 10 September 1993) was a Hungarian and Romanian ice hockey player and coach. Born in Miercurea Ciuc, Csíkszereda, Austria-Hungary (today Miercurea Ciuc, Romania), Vákár was a founding member of HSC Csíkszereda in 1929 and spent his entire career with the club until his retirement 1954, except a short spell at Telefon Club Bucharest (1935–37), winning two Romanian titles in 1949 and 1952. He played for the Romania men's national ice hockey team, Romanian national team in the 1930s and participated at three World Championships (1933, 1934, 1935). After retiring from playing he helped HSC Csíkszereda as coach and advisor. In the final years of World War II he fought for the Royal Hungarian Army on the eastern border of the Kingdom of Hungary. Miercurea Ciuc (; hu, Csíkszereda, ; german: Szeklerburg) is the county seat of Harghita County, Romania. It lies in the Székely Land, a mainly Hungarian-speaking ethno-cultural region in eastern Transylvania, and is situated in the Olt River valley. HSC Csíkszereda
Hoki Sport Klub Csíkszereda ( ro, Hockey Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc) is a professional ice hockey club based in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania. They play in the country's top-level championship, the Romanian Hockey League, and also participate in the international competition Erste Liga, which features teams from Hungary, Romania and Austria. Romania Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Romanian men's national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey of Romania, and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. They are currently ranked 27th in the 2019 IIHF World Rankings and currently compete in Division IA. They have competed in four Olympic ice hockey competitions, the most recent being in 1980. Olympic Games Romania started Olympic hockey in 1964 in the B division. In the tournament, the team finished 12th out of 16 teams and managed 3 wins against Austria, Italy, and Hungary also with a tie against Yugoslavia. In 1968, Romania lost its qualification match against West Germany 7–0 and was forced to compete in the B division again. In the first two games, Romania beat Austria 3–2 and the Host, France 7–3. Lajos Vákár Ice Hall ( hu, Vákár Lajos Műjégpálya, ro, Patinoarul Lajos Vákár) is a multi-purpose hall in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania. The arena is frequently used for concerts, indoor sports such as ice hockey, exhibitions and shows and it was also the host stadium of the 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship.
