Laila (born 24 October 1980) is an Indian actress. She has acted predominantly in Tamil films, as well as few Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi language films. Career She made her debut in the Telugu film ''Egire Paavurama'' (1996), directed by S. V. Krishna Reddy. Laila began to receive offers from prominent directors to feature in Tamil films and turned down films such as ''Dharma Chakkaram'' and ''Kadhal Palli'' by K. S. Ravikumar and Pavithran respectively. She subsequently signed on to appear in the lead role in ''VIP'' after Pooja Kumar had walked out of the project. However, Laila was left unimpressed when the producer asked her to consider changing her stage name to Pooja, as the invitations for the film had already been printed, and furthermore, she revealed that she was unaware of Rambha also being a heroine in the film. ''Laila'' is a 1929 Norwegian black and white silent drama film. The film was written, directed, and edited by George Schnéevoigt. Mona Mårtenson, Tryggve Larssen, and Harald Schwenzen played the leading roles. Plot Shopkeeper Lind is taking his daughter on a long journey to a distant church to be baptized. His daughter is with a servant in the last sled, which trails behind out of sight and comes under attack by a wolf pack. In the confusion that arises as they flee, the baby falls out of the sled. Jåmpa, a Sámi people, Sámi man, finds the baby and takes her to his Sámi employer, the rich Aslag Laagje, who adopts her to be his daughter. Laagje baptizes the child as Laila. A year later, Laagje visits Lind and his bereaved wife, and realizes that Laila is their daughter. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Sunil Dutt, Pran and Anita Raj. Trivia This was to be Anil Kapoor's official launch as leading man in Bollywood. Perejil Island ( es, Isla de Perejil, ber, Tura or , ar, تورة, translit=Tūra), also known as Parsley Island, is a small, uninhabited rocky islet located off the coast of Morocco. It is administered by Spain as one of the ''plazas de soberanía'', and its sovereignty is disputed by Morocco. It was the subject of an armed incident between the two countries in 2002. Name The name ''Isla de Perejil'' literally means "Parsley Island" in Spanish. Its original Berber name is ''Tura'', meaning "empty".
