Lai Tat Tat Wing
Lai Tat-wing (), active as Lai Tat Tat Wing (), is a Hong Kong comics artist. He has a character called Woody Woody Wood (木積積), described in 2015 by '' HK Magazine'' as Lai's "signature character". History Lai had drawn works as a teenager, but as an adult, at first worked in an office. In 1991 he saw a theatre programme by Zuni Icosahedron and received inspiration to continue drawing. Lai began doing work on comics in 1995. The ''South China Morning Post'' described his initial comics as "experimental". Lau Kit Wai of the ''South China Morning Post'' wrote that "unusual visuals and story-telling techniques" were elements in Lai's work. He wrote the Chinese language comic ''Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'', which was published in 2005. In 2008 a French translation appeared, and the comic in January 2008 appeared at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. ''HK Magazine'' was a free English-language alternative weekly published by HK Magazine Media Group in Hong Kong. Launched in 1991, it offered coverage of local affairs, social issues as well as entertainment listings. The 1000th issue was published in 2013, the same year that it was sold to the ''South China Morning Post'' (SCMP) group. The magazine printed its final issue on 7 October 2016. This was the third SCMP subsidiary to close since the takeover of the newspaper by the Alibaba Group. Zuni Icosahedron is a Hong Kong-based international experimental theatre company. Founded in 1982, Zuni is one of the nine major professional performing arts groups subsidised by the HKSAR government and has produced more than 190 original productions of alternative theatre and multimedia performances. As well as theatre works, Zuni is also active in video, sound experimentation and installation art, as well as working in the areas of arts education, arts criticism, cultural policy research and international cultural exchange. The name Zuni Icosahedron expresses two essential elements of its theatre works: colour (zuni) and form (icosahedron). Hong Kong comics are comics originally produced in Hong Kong. History Sun Yat-Sen established the Republic of China in 1911 using Hong Kong's comics to circulate anti-Qing propaganda. Some of the comics that mirrored the early struggles of the transitional political and war periods were ''The True Record'' and ''Renjian Pictorial''. By the time the Japanese occupied Hong Kong in 1941, all manhua activities had stopped.
