Lagoon Creek Pumping Station is a heritage-listed pumping station at Buckle Street, Caboolture, City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1913 to 1947. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 24 January 2003. History The former railway water supply pumping station was built in 1913 on a waterhole on Lagoon Creek at Caboolture. It was the third pump site drawing water from this source to supply tanks at the Caboolture railway station replenishing the stock of steam locomotives. The facility was developed in stages from the opening of the North Coast railway line until 1947 and its use was discontinued in 1968 when the use of steam locomotives on the line ceased. The Queensland Railways A10 Neilson class locomotive was a class of 0-4-2 steam locomotives operated by the Queensland Railways. History Overview The A10 Neilson class comprised 13 locomotives. Eight were built in 1865 and 1866 by Neilson and Company, Glasgow for the Southern & Western Railway operating out of Ipswich and another four for the Central Railway operating out of Rockhampton. One engine was also constructed for Peto, Brassey and Betts, a railway contractor building the line to Toowoomba. This was later purchased by the Queensland Railway in 1876. All engines were fitted with injectors instead of feed pumps when built. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. Kilcoy Railway Line
The Kilcoy railway line is a disused, partly demolished narrow gauge railway in South East Queensland, Australia. History The first section of the line opened from Caboolture to Woodford on 6 December 1909. It was extended to Kilcoy on 22 December 1913. Railway stations on the Kilcoy line included Durundur, Neurum, Royston, Villeneuve, Glenfern and Winya. The Wamuran to Kilcoy section closed on 30 June 1964 followed by the remaining section from Caboolture to Wamuran on 9 September 1996. As of 2015 all of the line has been removed back to Caboolture, except for a few hundred metres of track at the former Wamuran station.
