Lagarde (; oc, La Garda) is a commune in the Ariège department in southwestern France. History On 25 May 1969, the commune of Lagarde was struck by an F3 tornado. It destroyed nearby hamlets and transportation in the village and the surrounding area. A few hours later in the department of Aude the tornado devastated the village of Leuc. Such a wave of powerful tornadoes is rare in France. Sights Chateau The Château de Lagarde is an imposing medieval building constructed in the 11th century with the first square tower (1063–1065) by Ramiro I, King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona. Between the 1176 and 1180 the chateau developed with 4 square towers and with a rectangular entry with a door made out of wood, a drawbridge and ditch at the foot of the walls. Lagarde-d'Apt (, literally ''Lagarde of Apt''; oc, La Gàrda d'Ate) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Lagarde (winery)
Lagarde or Bodega Lagarde is a family-owned winery located in the Luján de Cuyo Department located in the west of the Mendoza Province, Argentina and was founded in 1897. Lagarde consists of five Mendoza vineyards and is currently owned and managed by the Pescarmona family. The winery is currently run by the third generation Pescarmonas: Sofia Pescarmona and Lucila Pescarmona, with Juan Roby Stordeur as the winemaker since 2002. History Artillery Capitan Don Jose Angel Pereira founded Lagarde in 1897 after a military campaign in the Mendoza region. He planted both Malbec and Cabernet Franc varietals. Some of his original vines still produce grapes for the Lagarde Malbec. When the great grandchild of Jose Angel had no heirs to take control of Lagarde, he decided to pass on the vineyard to his close friend, Luis Menotti Pescarmona in 1969.
