''Lady with a Sword'' (or ''Feng Fei Fei'') is a 1971 Shaw Brothers–produced movie starring Lily Ho and helmed by actress Kao Pao-shu Kao Pao-shu or Gao Baoshu (; 1932–2000) was a Chinese actress, producer, writer and film director who appeared in over 100 films during her career. The Chinese martial arts drama stars Ho as a young woman bent on revenge after her eldest sister is murdered. Ho's character soon finds out that her own fiancé (played by Nan-Kung Hsun, aka James Nam) is involved with the crime. His parents pressure her to forgive him, but she ultimately exacts bloody retribution. The film was presented in U.S. theaters during the spring of 1972 with English subtitles rather than dubbing. Kao Pao-shu
Kao Pao-shu or Gao Baoshu (; 1932–2000) was a Chinese actress, producer, writer and film director who appeared in over 100 films during her career. Originally from China, Kao moved to Hong Kong in 1951, where she acted in minor roles before joining Shaw Brothers Studio in 1958. Here, she starred in over 80 films, working alongside directors Yueh Feng and Cheng Kang, and she made her directorial debut in 1970 in ''Lady with a Sword''. Later she started her own company, producing films throughout the 1970s before she retired in the 1980s. In July 2000, she died at the age of 68. Biography Kao was born in Jiangsu, China, and left school at the age of 13 to find work following the death of her father. She worked as a reporter in Anhui and joined a drama troupe where she met actor Chiang Nan, whom she later married. Runme Shaw, K.St.J (; 1 January 1901 – 2 March 1985) was the chairman and founder of the Shaw Organisation of Singapore. Runme Shaw and his brother, Run Run Shaw, together known as the Shaw Brothers, were pioneers in the film and entertainment industry in Singapore and Malaya, and brought to life the movie industry in Asia, especially the Southeast Asian region. Runme Shaw was also a philanthropist who started the Shaw Foundation, a charitable organisation. Ni Cong (30 May 1935 – 3 July 2022), courtesy name Yiming, better known by his pen name Ni Kuang (also romanised Ngai Hong, I Kuang and Yi Kuang), was a Hong Kong-American novelist and screenwriter. He wrote over 300 Chinese-language ''wuxia'' and science fiction novels, and more than 400 film scripts. Life Ni was born on 30 May 1935, in Shanghai, to a family of intellectuals. Early life On November 25, 1946, Ho was born in Nanjing, China. Ho grew up in Taiwan. Ho graduated from The Girl's Middle School in Taiwan. Shaw Brothers (HK) Ltd. () was the largest film production company in Hong Kong, and operated from 1925 to 2011. In 1925, three Shaw brothers— Runje, Runme, and Runde—founded Tianyi Film Company (also called "Unique") in Shanghai, and established a film distribution base in Singapore, where Runme and their youngest brother, Run Run Shaw, managed the precursor to the parent company, Shaw Organisation.
