Lady Marian
Lady Marian is a character portrayed by Lucy Griffiths in the BBC television serial ''Robin Hood''. She is the daughter of the former Sheriff of Nottingham. Description Marian is 21 years old, and in contrast to most Robin Hood legends, is not described as Maid Marian, but rather Lady Marian. This is because "In those days 1would be considered quite old to still be a maid," according to actress Lucy Griffiths. Griffiths was 18 during auditions for the role and 19 during filming. Marian is beautiful and carries some status with her, as the daughter of Edward, the old Sheriff. Lucy Ursula Griffiths (born 10 October 1986) is an English actress known for her roles as Lady Marian in the BBC drama series ''Robin Hood'' (2006–09), as Nora Gainesborough, Eric Northman's vampire "sister", in the HBO horror series ''True Blood'' (2012–13) and as Emily Woodrow in the AMC supernatural drama series ''Preacher'' (2016). Sir Guy of Gisbourne (also spelled Gisburne, Gisborne, Gysborne, or Gisborn) is a character from the Robin Hood legends of English folklore. Maid Marian
Maid Marian is the heroine of the Robin Hood legend in English folklore, often taken to be his lover. She is not mentioned in the early, medieval versions of the legend, but was the subject of at least two plays by 1600. Her history and circumstances are obscure, but she commanded high respect in Robin’s circle for her courage and independence as well as her beauty and loyalty. For this reason, she is celebrated by feminist commentators as one of the early strong female characters in English literature. "Will You Tolerate This?" is the first episode of the 2006 ''Robin Hood'' television series, made by Tiger Aspect Productions for BBC One. It aired on Saturday 7 October 2006 at 7.05pm. The title of the episode refers to a line of dialogue near the end, where Robin asks the public at Nottingham Castle: "Will you tolerate this injustice? (I, for one, will not)". Plot The pre-credits sequence begins in Nottinghamshire, England 1192, with the character Allan-a-Dale being caught poaching deer by mounted soldiers. The leader of the group threatens to cut off Allan-a-Dale's hand, in response Alan pleads that he has a pregnant wife to feed. Robin Hood is a legendary heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature and film. According to legend, he was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. Sheriff Of Nottingham
The Sheriff of Nottingham is the main antagonist in the legend of Robin Hood. He is generally depicted as an unjust tyrant who mistreats the local people of Nottinghamshire, subjecting them to unaffordable taxes. Robin Hood fights against him, stealing from the rich, and the Sheriff, in order to give to the poor; it is this characteristic for which Robin Hood is best known. The Sheriff is considered the archenemy of Robin Hood, as he is the most recurring enemy of the well-known outlaw. It is not known whom this character is based on.
