Edgar Lewis (director)
Edgar Lewis (July 22, 1869 – May 21, 1938) was an American director. Career He began his career as a stage actor and entered the film industry in 1911 as an actor, making his directorial debut two years later. Specializing in action-adventure films and westerns, he directed dozens of pictures between 1913 and 1930, when he left directing and returned to his first love, acting. Most of his films during the sound era were in bit parts or uncredited roles. He appeared in his final film, '' Riding Wild'' in 1935 and retired. He died in Los Angeles in 1938. Dorothy Gould (January 15, 1910 – July 26, 2000) was a vaudeville and motion picture actress from New York City. Stage actress Gould participated in a production financed by Alice Pike Barney at the Theater Mart in Hollywood, California, in May 1926. The play, ''Transgressor'', was written by Barney. Gould played the role of ''Vergie'', the American girl. Others in the cast were Ruth Stonehouse and Ben Alexander. The comedy dealt with life in Paris, France, particularly the events in the life of an American girl who was there. In April 1929 Gould appeared in ''Legitimate Lovers'', a play written by Alice and Natalie Barney. A comedy, the theme deals with Mrs. Mucks of Chicago, Illinois. Marjorie Kane (April 28, 1909 – January 8, 1992) was an American film and stage actress born in Chicago. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1929 and 1951, occasionally under the name Babe Kane. Career Kane appeared on stage for 11 years before she was signed to a five-year contract with Mack Sennett in 1929. Her contract was validated by Los Angeles superior Judge Keech, as she was under legal signing age (she was 20). Her long run in the play '' Good News'' garnered her favorable reviews and interested two studios in giving her screen tests in 1928.
