Ladd McConkey
Andrew Ladd McConkey (born November 11, 2001) is an American football wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia, winning two national championships and the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy. He was selected by the Chargers in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. Early life McConkey attended North Murray High School in Chatsworth, Georgia. He made the varsity team as a freshman. McConkey was an athlete as he played quarterback, running back, defensive back, punter, and he was also a return specialist. In his senior year, he led North Murray to a 9–1 record and the school's first ever region championship. McConkey finished the year with 36 total touchdowns and 3,051 total yards, being named the offensive player of the year for the region. McConkey was a three-star recruit and committed to the University of Georgia on February 2, 2020. His jersey number, 15, was retired by North Murray HS in October 2023. ... The 2022 Oregon Ducks football team represented the University of Oregon during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by first-year head coach Dan Lanning. The Ducks played their home games at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, and competed as members of the Pac-12 Conference. A touchdown (abbreviated as TD) is a scoring play in gridiron football. Whether running, passing, returning a kickoff or punt, or recovering a turnover, a team scores a touchdown by advancing the ball into the opponent's end zone. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). A return specialist or kick returner is a player on the special teams unit of a gridiron football team who specializes in returning punts and kickoffs. There are few players who are exclusively return specialists; most also play another position such as wide receiver, defensive back, or running back. Punter (football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage.
