Ladakh Police
Ladakh Police is the police agency responsible for law enforcement and investigations within the Union territory of Ladakh, India. It came into existence on 31 October 2019. History The union territory of Ladakh was formed on 31 October as a result of provisions contained within the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. The region was previously part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and policing was the responsibility of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. A new organisation for the police force of Ladakh was created as part of the reorganisation. Organizational structure Ladakh Police is under the direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of India. It is headed by an Additional Director General of Police (IGP). Kargil
Kargil ( lbj, ) is a city and a joint capital of the union territory of Ladakh, India. It is also the headquarters of the Kargil district. It is the second-largest city in Ladakh after Leh. Kargil is located to the east of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, and to the west of Leh. It is the centre point of the Suru River. Etymology The name ''Kargil'' is said to derive from the words ''Khar'', meaning castle, and ''rKil'' meaning "centre". Amit Anil Chandra Shah (born 22 October 1964) is an Indian politician currently serving as the Minister of Home Affairs since 2019 and the first Minister of Co-operation of India since 2021. He served as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2014 to 2020. He has also served as chairman of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) since 2014. He was elected to the lower house of Parliament, Lok Sabha, in the 2019 Indian general elections from Gandhinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Police or JKP is the law enforcement agency of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory). JKP was established in 1873 and has primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within Jammu and Kashmir in India.
