Lacombe-Ponoka is a provincial electoral district in central Alberta, Canada created in 2003. The district is mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly. History The electoral district was created in the 2003 boundary redistribution mostly from the abolished electoral districts of Lacombe-Stettler and Ponoka-Rimbey. Ron Orr
Ronald James Nelson Orr (born 1954) is a Canadian politician from Alberta. Orr is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the electoral district of Lacombe-Ponoka since 2015. Orr served as a member of Executive Council of Alberta in the cabinet of Jason Kenney holding the position of Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women from 2021 to 2022. Rodney M. "Rod" Fox (born c. 1981) is a Canadian politician who is a former elected member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Lacombe-Ponoka. Fox's professional background is in insurance, finance, marketing, managing, and business relations. Before his election as an MLA, Fox was employed as the sales manager in the four western provinces for the largest Canadian owned insurance premium finance company, IFS Inc. Fox has served as a director on the Lacombe Economic Development Board, and ran as a candidate in the 2007 Lacombe municipal election. Raymond Frank "Ray" Prins (born April 15, 1951) is a Canadian politician and was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Lacombe-Ponoka as a Progressive Conservative. Early life Prins was born April 15, 1951 in Lacombe, Alberta. After high school, he worked a variety of agriculture and construction jobs, including two years in oilfield construction northeast of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, and a year in refinery maintenance in Edmonton. In 1974, Prins bought a farm near Gull Lake, Alberta where he grew grain and hay, and raised cattle, hogs, elk and bison. Lacombe-Stettler was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first-past-the-post method of voting from 1993 to 2004. History The Lacombe-Stettler electoral district was formed in 1993 combining portions of the Lacombe and Stettler electoral districts. The district is named after the City of Lacombe and the Town of Stettler. The Lacombe-Stettler electoral district was abolished following the 2003 electoral boundary re-distribution. Wildrose Party
The Wildrose Party (legally Wildrose Political Association, formerly the ''Wildrose Alliance Political Association'') was a conservative provincial political party in Alberta, Canada. The party was formed by the merger in early 2008 of the Alberta Alliance Party and the unregistered Wildrose Party of Alberta. The wild rose is Alberta's provincial flower. It contested the 2008 provincial election under the Wildrose Alliance banner, and was able to capture seven percent of the popular vote but failed to hold its single seat in the Legislative Assembly. The 29th Alberta Legislative Assembly was constituted after the general election on May 5, 2015. The New Democrats, led by Rachel Notley, won a majority of seats and formed the government.
