Lachlan Fitzgibbon
Lachlan Fitzgibbon (born 5 January 1994) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as forward for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL. Background Fitzgibbon was born in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and moved to Newcastle at a young age. He played his junior rugby league for the South Newcastle Lions in the Newcastle Rugby League. He was then signed by the Newcastle Knights. Fitzgibbon is the son of nib CEO Mark Fitzgibbon and nephew of Australian Labor Party MP Joel Fitzgibbon. Lachlan's grandfather is Eric Fitzgibbon who was an MP for the electorate of Hunter. Playing career Early career In 2013 and 2014, Fitzgibbon played for the Newcastle Knights' NYC team. 2015 In 2015, Fitzgibbon moved on to the Knights' New South Wales Cup team. North Sydney is a suburb and major commercial district on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, Australia. The Wyong Rugby League Football Club are an Australian rugby league club based on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The club competed in the New South Wales Cup from 2013 to 2018 and still competes in the Central Coast Division Rugby League. The club's colours are green and gold, the home ground of the club is the Morry Breen Oval in Kanwal, New South Wales. The 2022 NRL season is the 115th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 25th season run by the National Rugby League. Teams The lineup of teams remained unchanged for the 16th consecutive year. This became the second longest stretch of time (after 1947-1966 - 20 seasons) of a continuous line-up of teams in competition history (overtaking 1967-1981 - 15 seasons). Pre-season Pre-season matches were played between 12 February and 28 February 2022, before a 10-day lead up until the beginning of the regular season. It featured nineteen matches across three weekends, including the 2022 All Stars match, which was won by the Māori All Stars 16 – 10, and the annual Charity Shield match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons, which the Dragons won 16–10. Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club was formed in 1947, and their home ground was Parramatta Stadium (formerly Cumberland Oval). As of 2019, Parramatta's home ground stadium has been rebuilt and they now play as the co-tenants at Western Sydney Stadium, which sits on the same site that was once Parramatta Stadium. It took thirty years for the club to make the grand final, which they did in 1976 and 1977, losing on both occasions.
