Lachhi ( pa, ਲੱਛੀ) is a 1949 Punjabi film. The film was a big hit. Hansraj Behl composed the music and Mulk Raj Bhakhri penned the lyrics. Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Shamshad Begum,S.Balbir are the lead playback singers. Its songs, ''naale lammi te naale kaali, ve channa raat judaaian wali'' sung by Lata Mangeshkar, and ''meri laggdi kise na vekhi, te tuttdi nu jagg jaanda'' sung by Shamshad Begum, were big hits. Manorama (16 August 1926 – 15 February 2008) was an Indian character actress in Bollywood known best for her role as the comical tyrant aunt in ''Seeta Aur Geeta'' (1972) and in films such as ''Ek Phool Do Maali'' (1969) and ''Do Kaliyaan'' (1968). She started her career as a child artiste in 1936 in Lahore, under the name Baby Iris. He was born in Jammu as Om Prakash Chibber and went on to become a well-known character actor of Bollywood. Hansraj Behl
Hansraj Behl (19 November 1916 – 20 May 1984) was an Indian music composer, who composed music both for Hindi and Punjabi films. Early life and education Born in Ambala, British Punjab, Hansraj received his early education in music from Pandit Chunnilal. His father was a zamindar (landlord) in his area. Career Hansraj Behl opened a music school in Anarkali Bazaar, Lahore, Punjab, British India and released a few non-film records through His Master's Voice (HMV). Hansraj, along with his younger brother Gulshan Behl and later day poet and film songs lyricist Verma Malik, travelled to Bombay in 1944 to pursue a career as a music director in Hindi film industry. Mohammad Rafi
Mohammed Rafi (24 December 1924 – 31 July 1980) was an Indian playback singer and musician. He is considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. Rafi was notable for his versatility and range of voice; his songs varied from fast peppy numbers to patriotic songs, sad numbers to highly romantic songs, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical songs. Shamshad Begum (Hindi: शमशाद बेगम, IAST: ''Śamśād Bēgam''; 14 April 1919 – 23 April 2013) was an Indian singer who was one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry. Synopsis ''Do Lachhian'' is a romantic drama. Two girls, Lachhi (waddhi Lachhi) and Chhoti Lachhi, the daughters of Dharmu and Karmu, respectively, are in love with Labbhu and Sohna, respectively. Labbhu and his friend Natthu are alcoholic thieves and have a little crime record. ''Bhangra'' ( pa, ਭੰਗੜਾ) is a 1959 Punjabi romance, comedy and drama film directed by Jugal Kishore, starring Sunder, Nishi and Manju in lead roles. Synopsis Sunder, the son of moneylender Kaude Shah, goes to a poor farmer, Bulaki, in the village of Rangpur to get money owed, but falls in love with his daughter Banto. A suspended ''Munshi'' (Cashier/Assistant of a money-lender) of Kaude Shah, Mehnga Mall, also tries to get Banto; he steals Kaude Shah's jewellery and reaches Rangpur. He gives the jewellery to Sunder for staying away from him and Banto. Sunder gives the jewellery to Bulaki to pay back his debt and so did the unconscious Bulaki. The truth comes out and Bulaki is charged for stealing jewellery. He explains that the jewellery was given to him by Sunder and so Sunder is arrested.
