Lacey Hearn
Lacey Earnest Hearn (March 23, 1881 – October 19, 1969 in Fort Wayne, Indiana) was an American athlete and middle distance runner who competed in the early twentieth century. Individually he specialized in the 1500 Metres, and he won a bronze medal in Athletics at the 1904 Summer Olympics. James Lightbody took gold. A silver medal in sports and other similar areas involving competition is a medal made of, or plated with, silver awarded to the second-place finisher, or runner-up, of contests or competitions such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, etc. The outright winner receives a gold medal and the third place a bronze medal. More generally, silver is traditionally a metal sometimes used for all types of high-quality medals, including artistic ones. Sidney Herbert Hatch (August 18, 1883 – October 17, 1966) was an American athlete who competed for the United States in the 1904 Summer Olympics held in St. Louis, United States, in the 4 mile team where he won the silver medal with his teammates James Lightbody, Frank Verner, Lacey Hearn and Frenchman Albert Corey. Albert Corey
Albert Louis Corey (16 April 1878 – 3 August 1926) was a French athlete who competed at the 1904 Summer Olympics held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. He won a silver medal in the marathon race and also won a silver medal as a member of the Chicago Athletic Association team in the four mile team race. Biography The Games report refers to Corey as a "Frenchman wearing the colors of the Chicago Athletic Association". Corey was a French immigrant to the United States, who lived in America and did not have the right papers. Previously the International Olympic Committee listed him as an American, due to insufficient or improper documentation at the time. Currently IOC attributes his medal in the marathon to France and the medal in the team race to a mixed team, not to the United States. William Franklyn Verner (June 24, 1883 – July 1, 1966) was an American athlete and middle-distance runner who competed in the early twentieth century. Verner was born in Grundy County, Illinois. He competed in Athletics at the 1904 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the 1500 metres in 4:06.8 behind James Lightbody, and a silver medal with the US Chicago team in the four mile race. In the 2590 metre steeplechase competition he finished fourth and in the 800 metres event he finished sixth. James Lightbody
James Davies Lightbody (March 16, 1882 – March 2, 1953) was an American middle distance runner, winner of six Olympic medals (two of which are no longer recognized by the International Olympic Committee following its downgrading of the 1906 Intercalated Games) in the early 20th century. Lightbody, born in Pittsburgh and graduating from high school in Muncie, Indiana, had great success at the 1904 Summer Olympics, held in St. Louis. He wasn't favoured in any of the three individual events in which he competed, but nevertheless won all three of them. First, he won the 2590 metre steeplechase, sprinting to the 800 metres title days later. Finally, he won the 1500 metres in a new world record. Later that day, he added a second place to his tally, when he competed with the Chicago Athletic Association in the 4 mile team event.
