Labo, Camarines Norte
Labo, officially the Municipality of Labo ( tl, Bayan ng Labo), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 109,245 people. Labo is from Daet and from Manila. Geography The town of Labo is geographically located relatively at the center of the province of Camarines Norte. It is approximately 335 kilometers south of Manila and 15 kilometers away from Daet, the capital town of the province. It is situated at the coordinates between 14°01'06" and 14°11" North latitudes and 122°21'00" and 122°52'20" East longitudes. On the North, it is bounded by the municipalities of Paracale, Jose Panganiban, and Capalonga, on the South, by the province of Quezon, adjoining province of Camarines Sur, on the East by the municipalities of Vinzons and San Vicente, and on the West by the municipality of Santa Elena. Ozamiz, officially the City of Ozamiz ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Ozamiz; fil, Lungsod ng Ozamiz), is a 3rd class component city in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 140,334 people. Although occasionally spelled as Ozamis in official sources like COMELEC, it is spelled as Ozamiz in Republic Act No. 321, the Ozamiz City Charter Act. In 2005, City Resolution 251-05 was passed to reiterate that it is officially spelled Ozamiz, not Ozamis. History The city of Ozamiz grew out of an old Spanish town called Misamis—a name believed to have been derived from the Subanen word "''Kuyamis''," a variety of coconut. Ken "Labo" Labanowski (קני לבנובסקי; born May 13, 1959) is an American-Israeli former basketball player. He played the forward position. He played for five seasons in the Israel Basketball Premier League. Biography Labanowski was from Oyster Bay, New York. He is 6' 8" (203 cm) tall. His son, Sean Labanowski, is also an Israeli-American professional basketball player; he plays for Hapoel Afula B.C., Hapoel Afula of the Liga Leumit (basketball), Israeli National League. He played high school basketball for Oyster Bay High School ('77). In a game against Carle Place High School on January 25, 1977, Labanowski scored 50 points as he shot 25 for 29 from the floor, and that season he led Nassau County, New York, with a scoring average of 31.4. He was a 2005 inductee into the Oyster Bay High School Hall of Fame.
