7de Laan
''7de Laan'' is a South African Afrikaans soap opera created by Danie Odendaal and produced by Danie Odendaal Productions. The series focuses on the lives of residents staying in and around the community of 7de Laan (7th Avenue), in the suburb of Hillside. The programme's dialogue is primarily in Afrikaans and is subtitled in English with some English and Zulu dialogue in between. The street and shopfronts which are featured on the opening visuals, are that of Seventh Street in Melville, Johannesburg. History Odendaal originally conceived of the series when he was a resident of the Melville section of Johannesburg. At the time, Odendaal would watch the people of his community over breakfast and a cup of coffee at his favourite coffee shop. He would make up fictitious characters based on what he saw. The working title for the show was ''Die Koffiekan'' (The Coffee Pot). Later it was renamed ''Hoe Meer Dae...'' (The More Days), but the name was considered too similar to the Am ...

Ana Serrano van der Laan (born 10 February 1967), known professionally as Ana Laan, is a singer-songwriter born in Madrid, Spain. She composes in English, Spanish and Swedish, with a smattering of French. ''Laan'' (Friends) is a 2011 Cinema of Djibouti, Djiboutian short film directed by Lula Ali Ismaïl. Plot Souad, Oubah and Ayane are three young women in Djibouti who chew on Khat, qat and seek love. The three friends met at a young age and have similar experiences. After Souad leaves Djibouti to study abroad, she has trouble finding a lover because she is very demanding and selective when it comes to men. Oubah, meanwhile, is dealing with marital problems that almost leads to a breakdown. Her husband consumes qat frequently and is distancing himself from Oubah. Lula Ali Ismaïl ( so, Luula Cali Ismaaciil) is a Djibouti-Canadian film director and screenwriter. She is the first woman from Djibouti to produce a film, earning her the nickname of "the first lady of the Djibouti cinema." The directed the 27-minute fiction short ''Laan'' (2011). The film was screened at the 2012 Montreal Vues d'Afrique festival, and in 2013 at FESPACO. In 2014 she started working on a feature film, ''Dhalinyaro'', co-written with Alexandra Ramniceanu and Marc Wels. The film, Djibouti's first feature film, premiered in July 2017.
