''La Tocada'' is the 15th album by Mexican iconic pop singer Verónica Castro. It was released in 1997. Castro was filming both her late night show, ''La Tocada'', and her telenovela, ''Pueblo chico, infierno grande'', at this time. The theme song to the telenovela was "Pena De Amor Y Muerte". Verónica Castro (), full name Verónica Judith Sáinz Castro (born 19 October 1952), is a Mexican actress, singer, producer, former model and presenter. She started her career as a television actress, where she met comedian Manuel Valdés, father of her son Cristian Castro, and in fotonovelas and telenovelas while earning her degree in international relations. Acting and music career In 1986, she performed in the Latin version of "We Are The World", Cantare, cantaras. She also released one of her most ambitious albums to date, ''Simplemente Todo.'' Ranchera () or canción ranchera is a genre of traditional music of Mexico. It dates to before the years of the Mexican Revolution. Rancheras today are played in virtually all regional Mexican music styles. Drawing on rural traditional folk music, the ranchera developed as a symbol of a new national consciousness in reaction to the aristocratic tastes of the period. Pete Astudillo
Pedro Astudillo (born December 1, 1963) is an American singer and songwriter. He was a backup vocalist for Selena y Los Dinos and has released several albums as a solo artist. Early life Astudillo was born on December 1, 1963, in Laredo, Texas, to Pedro and Paz Astudillo. He was one of the leaders of the Tejano music scene, and from an early age followed mariachi and conjunto music. He began his musical career in a duo band called Los Bad Boyz alongside his friend Joe Ojeda in their hometown Laredo in 1985. In 1987, they were brought into a band, Selena y Los Dinos, by its manager, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., after opening a show for Los Dinos at a disco in Laredo. Astudillo became a backup vocalist for the Queen of Tejano, Selena, the lead member of the group.
