La Raya Mountain Range
The La Raya mountain range (Spanish for ''the line'', ''the limits'', ''the border'') is situated in the Andes of Peru. It extends in a northeasterly direction approximately between 14º 20’ and 14º 33’S and 70º 57’ and 71º 02’W for about 10 km. It is located in the Cusco Region as well as in the Puno Region, northwest of the Peruvian Altiplano and Lake Titicaca, near the La Raya pass. Puno
Puno (Aymara and qu, Punu) is a city in southeastern Peru, located on the shore of Lake Titicaca. It is the capital city of the Puno Region and the Puno Province with a population of approximately 140,839 (2015 estimate). The city was established in 1668 by viceroy Pedro Antonio Fernández de Castro as capital of the province of Paucarcolla with the name San Juan Bautista de Puno. The name was later changed to San Carlos de Puno, in honor of king Charles II of Spain. Puno has several churches dating back from the colonial period; they were built to service the Spanish population and evangelize the natives. PeruRail is a railway operator providing tourist, freight, and charter services in southern Peru. It was founded in 1999 by two Peruvian entrepreneurs and the British company Sea Containers.
