Enzo Sciotti
Enzo Sciotti (24 September 1944 – 11 April 2021) was an Italian artist and illustrator. Sciotti was known for his illustrations of more than 3000 movie posters, typically for horror films, including '' The Beyond'', '' Demons'', ''The Blood of Heroes'' and several other Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, and Lamberto Bava films. He also painted covers for comics and home video releases. Early life Enzo Sciotti was born in Rome, Italy, on 24 September 1944. His father, Emanuele Sciotti, was a church decorator, and many members of the Sciotti family were painters. As a teenager, Enzo drew a portrait of Pope John XXIII; his family sent it to the Vatican, and received a response from the Pope, who praised him. At the age of 16, thanks to his drawing talent and his passion for film, Sciotti found a job as an artist at a graphics studio in Cinecittà, producing movie posters. The commedia sexy all'italiana (, lit. "sex comedy Italian style"), also known as commedia scollacciata or commedia erotica all'italiana, is a subgenre of Italian ''commedia all'italiana'' film genre. Style ''Commedia sexy'' is characterized typically by both abundant female nudity and comedy, and by the minimal weight given to social criticism that was the basic ingredient of the main ''commedia all'italiana'' genre. Stories are often set in affluent environments such as wealthy households. It is closely connected to the sexual revolution, and it was something extremely new and innovative for that period. For the first time, films with female nudity could be watched at the cinema. Pornography and scenes of explicit sex were still forbidden in Italian cinemas, but partial nudity was somewhat tolerated. Mario Carotenuto (30 June 1916 – 14 April 1995) was an Italian actor of film and theatre. Biography Carotenuto, the son of a silent film actor and younger brother of the actor Memmo Carotenuto, took various humble jobs for many years before starting his own artistic career in 1946, first as a radio actor and then joining small avanspettacolo companies. He made his film debut in 1950, in ''Abbiamo vinto'', going on to perform as leading or supporting actor in dozens of films, often comedies. He was also very active on stage and television. Gianfranco D'Angelo (19 August 1936 – 15 August 2021) was an Italian actor and comedian. Biography Born in Rome, D'Angelo started his career as a comedian in the mid-1960s, achieving his first successes with the theatrical company "Il Bagaglino". His career was launched in the mid-1970s, with a series of successful variety shows such as ''Mazzabubù'', ''C'era una volta Roma'', ''La Sberla'', and reached its peak in the following decade, with '' Drive In'', ''Odiens'' and '' Striscia la notizia''. D'Angelo was also very active in cinema between 1974 and 1982, but his film activity was limited to "'' sexy comedies''" and B-movies. D'Angelo died after a short illness on 15 August 2021 at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, a few days before he turned 85.
