"''La novia''" (''The bride'') is a popular song by Chilean songwriter Joaquín Prieto, first recorded by his brother Antonio Prieto. Recorded in Mexico, it became an instant hit in that country and the brothers' native Chile. After popularizing both in South America and Europe in its original form, it was recorded by British singer Julie Rogers in 1964 as "The Wedding" (sometimes credited as "The Wedding (La Novia)". The song was included on Rogers' extended play from 1964, which was also titled ''The Wedding'', and has appeared on various compilation albums in the years since its release. Juan Antonio Espinoza Prieto (26 May 1926 – 14 July 2011) was a Chilean singer and actor. Also a popular singer, he scored an international 1961 hit with " La novia", mostly known in English-speaking countries as "The Wedding". In 1995 a ''20 Greatest Hits'' CD was released, which included such hits as "La novia" and "El milagro". He also made a very popular Spanish version of a song from the Italian singer Domenico Modugno. Prieto also sang a popular ballad, "Juan Bobo", in homage to the popular Juan Bobo of Puerto Rican folklore. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. Radio airplay, which, unlike sales figures and streaming, is readily available on a real-time basis, is also tracked on a Friday to Thursday cycle effective with the chart dated July 17, 2021 (previously Monday to Sunday and before July 2015, Wednesday to Tuesday). The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
