La Maison Rouge
La Maison Rouge was a private contemporary art Foundation dedicated mainly to showing private art collections, monographic shows of contemporary artists' work. It was located close to the Bastille, in Paris, at 10 Boulevard de la Bastille in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. La Maison Rouge has been definitely closed in October 2018. History Created in 2004 by Contemporary Art Collector Antoine de Galbert, La maison rouge occupied an old factory building. The 2000-square-meter space was renovated by architect Jean-Yves Clément and the artist Jean-Michel Alberola. The Foundation offices were located at the center the building in what used to be an old red farmhouse (hence its name). La maison rouge had an adjacent bookstore run by Bookstorming and a branch of ''Rose Bakery'', an organic English style cafe, that renewed its entire decoration with each exhibition. Daniela Franco
Daniela Franco is a Mexican conceptual artist and writer who lives and works in Paris. Her body of work is interdisciplinary and explores intersections between experimental writing, pop music and visual art through the creation of archives, temporary fictions and video. She is a San Francisco Art Institute and École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts alumna as well as a Fulbright scholar. Her projects have received support and grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Mexican National Council for Culture and Arts and Colección Júmex. Projects Franco's first projects were done in video, using images and sounds from a poetical construction stand, for their form, euphony and rhythm. Andrea Blum (born 1950) is an American artist known primarily for her public artworks. Blum was born in New York City. She received a BFA degree from Tufts University in 1973 and an MFA degree from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1976. Her work is included in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Walker Art Center. She has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Graham Foundation Fellowship, SJ Weiler Fund Award, Art Matters, NYSCA and National Endowment for the Arts Grants, and in 2005 was named Chevalier, Order of Arts and Letters, by the French Minister of Culture. Augustin Lesage
Augustin Lesage (August 9, 1876 – February 21, 1954) was a French coal miner who became a painter and artist through the help of what he considered to be spirit voices. His style utilizes patterns and symmetry on a large scale, often accompanied by bright, vibrant colors. He was untrained and is considered an outsider artist, part of ''Art Brut''. Life Lesage was born in Saint-Pierre-les-Auchel, Pas-de-Calais, into a family of miners and was sent to work in a coal mine from an early age. In 1911, when he was 35 years old, Lesage claimed he heard a voice speak to him from the darkness of the mine and tell him, "One day you will be a painter". Marie Maillard became Marie Briel aka Mary Maillard (25 September 1680 – 23 November 1731) was a French born huguenot who was the reported beneficiary of miraculous healing in London. Life Maillard was born in Cognac, Saintonge, France. Her parents, John Maillard and Charlotte du Dognon, were Huguenots. She was said to be lame from birth. When she was about nine, her family moved to the Huguenot area of London to escape persecution in France. When she was thirteen, she was living with another refugee girl named Renée de Laulan. Felice Varini (born in Locarno in 1952) is a Paris-based, Swiss artist who was nominated for the 2000/2001 Marcel Duchamp Prize. Mostly known for his geometric perspective-localized paintings in rooms and other spaces, using projector-stencil techniques, according to mathematics professor and art critic Joël Koskas, "A work of Varini is an anti-Mona Lisa." Felice paints on architectural and urban spaces, such as buildings, walls and streets.
