''La Gran Señora'' () is the eleventh major label studio album by Regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera, released on December 1, 2009, by Fonovisa Records. It has sold 112,000 copies in the United States as of November 2011. It was named the best-selling Regional Mexican Album of 2010 by ''Billboard''. ''La Gran Señora'' reached number two on the ''Billboard'' Top Latin Albums chart in the United States and number nine on the Mexican Albums Chart. Five singles were released from the album: "Ya Lo Sé", "Por Que No Le Calas", "Déjame Volver Contigo", "La Gran Señora", and "Amarga Navidad". Alex Henderson of Allmusic gave the album a positive review and said, "La Diva de la Banda has no problem excelling in a mariachi-oriented environment". Dolores Janney "Jenni" Rivera Saavedra (July 2, 1969 – December 9, 2012) was an American singer known for her work within the Regional Mexican music genre, specifically in the styles of Banda, Mariachi and Norteño. Mariachi
Mariachi (, , ) is a genre of regional Mexican music that dates back to at least the 18th century, evolving over time in the countryside of various regions of western Mexico. The usual mariachi group today consists of as many as eight violins, two trumpets and at least one guitar, including a high-pitched vihuela and an acoustic bass guitar called a guitarrón, and all players taking turns singing lead and doing backup vocals. From the 19th to 20th century, migrations from rural areas into Guadalajara, along with the Mexican government's cultural promotion gradually re-labeled it as ''son'' style, with its alternative name of ''mariachi'' becoming used for the 'urban' form. Amalia Mendoza García (10 July 1923 – 11 June 2001), nicknamed ''La Tariácuri'', was a Mexican singer and actress. Amanda Miguel (born 1 June 1956) is an Argentine singer. Early life Miguel was born in Gaiman, in the Chubut Province in Argentina, June 1, 1956. Career At 17, she met Diego Verdaguer, a man five years her senior, whom she would later marry. Banda Cuisillos de Arturo Macías, or simply Banda Cuisillos, are a Mexican banda group from the city of Cuisillos, Jalisco. They are well known for wearing Native American costumes in their stage performances and album photographs as a tribute to their ethnic heritage. Also, unlike most brass bandas, they incorporate a piano and electric guitar into some of their songs. History The band was formed in 1987 by Arturo Macías, a clarinetist, who was still a teenager at the time. Los Invasores de Nuevo León are a Mexican Norteño set founded in 1977. Led by Lalo Mora, the first members of the group was Eduardo "Lalo" Mora, Isidro "Chilo" Rodriguez, Luis González y Arturo Vargas. Javier Ríos was the accordion player of Luis y Julian. Then all change and the next Los Invasores was Lalo Mora, Javier Rios, Homero de Leon and Eliud Lopez.
