La Fosca
La Fosca is a neighbourhood of the town of Palamós and a beach on the Costa Brava, located in the comarca of Baix Empordà and the province of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. La Fosca is situated between the port of Palamós and the fishing settlement of . The town is by-passed by the C31 which connects the coastal towns of the central Costa Brava with Girona. Palafrugell lies to the north and Castell-Platja d'Aro to the south. La Fosca is located at the northern end of a large bay, which is popular for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. Throughout most of the year very few people live there, but in summer the population of La Fosca grows quickly. La Fosca beach is known for the ''Roca Fosca'', a large rock in the middle of the beach. Calonge
Calonge is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Baix Empordà in Catalonia, Spain, on the coastline of the Costa Brava. The town comprises two parts, a medieval hill village and modern seaside resort. The main urban centre and original village is about 4 km inland from the Bay of Sant Antoni. The towers and walls of Calonge castle date from the thirteenth century. Sant Antoni de Calonge, a resort, lies on the coast between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós. Mont-ras
Mont-Ras (Catalan; in Spanish, Montrás) is a village and rural district situated between the larger towns of Palafrugell and Palamos on the Costa Brava in Baix Emporda, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. Mont-ras is approximately 40 minutes from Girona, or 80 minutes from Barcelona. The historic village centre sits just in the initial rise of the Gavarres hills and natural park, while the rest of the district extends across the plain to meet the Mediterranean sea at the rocky bay of El Crit just to the south of Cap Roig looking out to the Formigues Islands. Calella De Palafrugell
Calella de Palafrugell is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell in the province of Girona, Spain. The other two towns are Llafranc, only to the north, and Tamariu, some to the north. All three towns are part of the Costa Brava, the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, in the comarca of Baix Empordà. It should not be confused with the larger, more commercialised resort of Calella, which is further south towards Barcelona, in the comarca of Maresme. Calella de Palafrugell has an excellent setting and, whilst busy in the summer season, it does not have the large hotels and mass tourism of other Costa Brava resorts such as Lloret de Mar. GR 92
The GR 92 is part of the extensive GR footpath network of paths, tracks and trails in Spain. It will eventually run the length of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, from Portbou, on the border with France to Tarifa, the most southerly point of Spain. In doing so it will pass through the autonomous communities of Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia and Andalusia. The sections in Catalunya and Murcia are complete and fully signposted, but work is still in progress on the sections in Valencia and Andalusia, and sources differ on the eventual length of the path. Castell De Sant Esteve De Mar
The Castell de Sant Esteve de Mar is a ruined castle perched atop a cliff in the town of Palamós, in Baix Empordà, between La Fosca and the Cala s'Alguer. Only the bases of some towers and some walls remain, and is currently surrounded by a fence that prevents access to visitors. It is accessed from the path leading from the beach of Fosca to S'Alguer that forms part of the GR 92 long distance footpath. History Finds of pottery from the Roman period have been documented on the existing land next to the castle, together with remains of walls and pavements of opus signinum, which are believed to be part of a Roman villa. These remains indicate that the promontory of Sant Esteve was inhabited since Roman times, and was probably a settlement of the Iberian people before that.
