La Flaca (Jarabe De Palo Album)
''La Flaca'' is the debut album by the Spanish Latin rock group Jarabe de Palo, released in 1996. The album was produced by Joe Dworniak for Virgin Records España. Immediately after its release, the album obtained a poor commercial reception, selling only 12,000 copies within seven months. However, when the title-track of the album was used as a TV advertisement, the album became a commercial success in Spain, reaching number one on the charts and being certified six times platinum for domestic shipments exceeding 600,000 copies. Released in Europe, Latin America and the United States, it also received gold and platinum status in several other countries, including Italy, where it peaked at number two and was certified triple platinum by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry. Jarabe De Palo
Jarabe de Palo ("Wooden Stick Syrup" or, by virtue of the Spanish expression "dar un jarabe de palo", i.e. a "hell of a beating") were a Spanish rock band founded in 1996, once led by singer, songwriter and guitarist Pau Donés, who, on 9 June 2020, died at the age of 53, and this brought the band to dissolution. History Foundation and beginnings The band was founded in 1996 in Barcelona, Spain, and has always had singer-songwriter Pau Donés as vocalist and lead guitarist. Going independent In 2008, the band announced they were going to leave their record company and go independent, founding their own record label Tronco Records. ''El Mundo'' (; ), before ''El Mundo del Siglo Veintiuno'', is the second largest printed daily newspaper in Spain. The Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI) is an umbrella organization that keeps track of virtually all aspects of the music recording industry in Italy. It was established in 1992, when major corporate labels left the previously existing Associazione dei Fonografici Italiani (AFI). During the following years, most of the remaining Italian record labels left AFI to join the new organisation. As of 2011, FIMI represents 2,500 companies operating in the music business.
