Ask la Cour Rasmussen (born ) is a Danish ballet dancer. He joined the Royal Danish Ballet in 2000, then moved to the New York City Ballet in 2002, and was promoted to principal dancer in 2013. He retired from the company in 2021. Early life Ask la Cour was born in Copenhagen, and is the son of ballet dancer and former Royal Danish Ballet associate artistic director Lise la Cour and conductor . His maternal half-brother, Nilas Martins, was a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. As a young child, he had no interest in ballet, instead preferring soccer and skateboarding. However, when he was nine, he overheard his mother telling a friend the Royal Danish Ballet School needed more boys, so he decided to audition for the school, and was accepted. Emil La Cour
Emil La Cour (born 19 July 1991) is a Danish former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder. Career Rising through the ranks of FC Svendborg, La Cour grew out to become a key player for the 2nd Division (third-tier) club, before being signed by local rivals FC Fyn on 25 June 2010. He had earlier been on a trial at AGF, without this amounting to a transfer. He established a strong partnership with Jeppe Grønning in the central midfield area while playing for FC Fyn, helping them achieve promotion to the second tier in the 2011–12 season. Janus La Cour
Janus Andreas Bartholin la Cour (5 September 1837 – 13 October 1909) was a Danish painter who is remembered for his landscapes painted in the classical style of the Eckersberg school. Biography Born near Ringkøbing, he spent much of his early life in the Aarhus area, attending Aarhus Latin School where he was introduced to painting by Emmerik Høegh-Guldberg and his apprentice Christen Købke. In 1853, he moved to Copenhagen where he studied privately under Wilhelm Marstrand and, from 1856, under P.C. Skovgaard who was particularly important for his artistic development and became a personal friend. From 1861 to 1884, la Cour lived with the Skovgaard family in Copenhagen. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1857 to 1864. During several trips to Italy, he painted landscapes of Lake Nemi and Tivoli. Lise La Cour
Lise la Cour (1944–2016) was a Danish ballerina, choreographer and dance teacher. After training at the company's ballet school, she premièred at the Royal Danish Ballet in 1961 and went on to star in a series of ballets including Bournonville's ''Napoli'', Balanchine's ''The Four Temperaments'' and Flemming Flindt's ''The Young Man Must Marry''. From the late 1970s, she was principally a choreographer, creating ballets based on the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen's, starting with ''Hyrdinden og skorstensfejeren'' (The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep) in 1988. Poul La Cour
Poul la Cour (13 April 1846 – 24 April 1908) was a Danish scientist, inventor and educationalist. Today la Cour is especially recognized for his early work on wind power, both experimental work on aerodynamics and practical implementation of wind power plants. He worked most of his life at Askov Folk High School where he developed the historic genetic method of teaching the sciences. Niels la Cour (born 14 November 1944) is a Danish composer. Life La Cour did his A levels in 1963 from the music branch of the Aurehøj Grammar School with organ as his speciality. Between 1964 and 1969 he was at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, graduating with diploma and music teacher's exam in the subjects music theory, music history, and ear training. He studied instrumentation and composition with Leif Kayser in 1973 and 1974 and at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome in 1975. Niels la Cour taught music theory at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense between 1968 and 1977 and at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen from 1978 onwards. Nina LaCour is an American author, primarily known for writing young adult literature with queer, romantic story lines. Her novel ''We Are Okay'' won the Printz Award in 2017. Early life and education LaCour was born in 1983 in and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. Her family instilled in her an appreciation for the arts and education: "her grandmother taught china painting classes; her father was a teacher and then school principal; and her mother taught high school art."
