The La Blanche Apartments is an historic, American building that is located in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History and architectural features Built in 1910, this historic structure was designed in the Georgian Revival Georgian architecture is the name given in most English-speaking countries to the set of architectural styles current between 1714 and 1830. Part of the second wave of a housing boom in West Philadelphia that started with the completion of the Market Street Elevated line in 1907, this building was also one of the first large apartment buildings ever built in Philadelphia. West Philadelphia, nicknamed West Philly, is a section of the city of Philadelphia. Alhough there are no officially defined boundaries, it is generally considered to reach from the western shore of the Schuylkill River, to City Avenue to the northwest, Cobbs Creek to the southwest, and the SEPTA Media/Wawa Line to the south.
