La Bagatelle Magique
Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique, sometimes abridged as La Bagatelle Magique, is a music group featuring Robyn, keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt, and the late producer Christian Falk. Their first song "Love Is Free", which features Maluca, premiered in June 2015. The group released an EP called ''Love Is Free "Love Is Free" is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow. It was released as the second single from Crow's sixth studio album ''Detours (Sheryl Crow album), Detours''. Robyn
Robin Miriam Carlsson (born 12 June 1979), known as Robyn (), is a Swedish pop singer, songwriter, record producer, and DJ. She arrived on the music scene with her 1995 debut album, ''Robyn Is Here'', which produced two Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 top 10 singles: "Do You Know (What It Takes)" and "Show Me Love (Robyn song), Show Me Love". Her second and third albums, ''My Truth'' (1999) and ''Don't Stop the Music (Robyn album), Don't Stop the Music'' (2002), were released in Sweden. Robyn returned to international success with her fourth album, ''Robyn (album), Robyn'' (2005), which brought a Grammy Award nomination. The album spawned the singles "Be Mine! Christian Falk
Christian Falk (25 April 1962 – 24 July 2014) was a Swedish record producer and musician. Falk started his recording career with the band Madhouse in the early 1980s. He later moved on and became a founding member of post-punk band Imperiet. In the early 1990s, he emerged as a producer and DJ in the emerging Swedish hip hop, soul and club scene. He switched comfortably between different styles of music; with Papa Dee he did dancehall hip hop, with Stonefunkers it was Daisy Age-inspired hip hop and P-Funk, dancehall with Swing-A-Ling Sound System, R&B and acid jazz with Blacknuss, hip hop with Petter, the Timebomb collective and Timbuktu, hardcore and electro with The Teddybears, and club soul with Kayo, among many others. He also co-wrote the track "Electricity", and several other tracks on the 1995 album '' We Care'' from alt-rockers Whale. Maluca Mala
Natalie Ann Yepez, better known by her stage name Maluca, grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan. Raised on a steady diet of bachata, cumbia, merengue, and mambo, as well as hip-hop and other club music, Maluca's music has been described as "experimental tropical punk, ghetto tech, and hip-house". Although a bad case of stage fright kept her out of the spotlight for much of her life, a chance meeting with Diplo while performing karaoke eventually led to "El Tigeraso", Maluca's first single. The years 2009 and 2010 saw her touring, performing, and releasing what she calls "tropical punk" tracks. Since the release of her single in 2009, Maluca has recorded tracks that range from merengue mashups to kuduro to old-school deep house and focused on her stage show, which includes two dancers named the Cookies. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. ''Love Is Free'' is a "mini-album" by Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique, released on 7 August 2015 by the record labels Konichiwa, Cherrytree, and Interscope. "Tell You (Today)" was originally released in September 2014 and is a cover of the 1983 disco song "Tell You Today" by Loose Joints, written by that group's founding member Arthur Russell. It originally appeared on the Red Hot tribute album to him, ''Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell'', in October 2014. Arthur Russell (musician)
Charles Arthur Russell Jr. (May 21, 1951 – April 4, 1992) was an American cellist, composer, producer, singer, and musician from Iowa, whose work spanned a disparate range of styles. After studying contemporary composition and Indian classical music in California, Russell relocated to New York City in the mid-1970s, where he became involved with both Lower Manhattan's avant-garde community and later the city's burgeoning disco scene. His eclectic work spanned many styles, and was often marked by his distinctive voice and adventurous production choices. Russell worked as musical director of the New York avant-garde venue the Kitchen in 1974 and 1975. Later embracing dance music, he produced or co-produced several underground club hits under names such as Dinosaur L, Loose Joints, and Indian Ocean between 1978 and 1988, and he co-founded the label Sleeping Bag Records with Will Socolov in 1981.
