LaLiga
The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División, commonly known simply as Primera División in Spain, and as La Liga in English-speaking countries and officially as LaLiga Santander for sponsorship reasons, stylized as LaLiga, is the men's top professional football division of the Spanish football league system. Administered by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, it is contested by 20 teams, with the three lowest-placed teams at the end of each season being relegated to the Segunda División and replaced by the top two teams and a play-off winner in that division. Since its inception, a total of 62 teams have competed in La Liga. Nine teams have been crowned champions, with Barcelona winning the inaugural La Liga and Real Madrid winning the title a record 35 times, most recently in the 2021–22 season. Liga Nacional De Fútbol Profesional
The Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (), also known as LaLiga (the abbreviation LFP was also used until the 2015-16 season), is a sports association responsible for administering the two professional Association football, football leagues in Spain, the La Liga, Primera División (aka "La Liga") and Segunda División. Founded in 1984, the organisation has independent legal status from the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and it is autonomous in its operations. Its main role, in addition to defending its members' interests, is to organise the National League Championship in conjunction with the RFEF. The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Segunda División, commercially known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons, is the men's second professional association football division of the Spanish football league system. Administrated by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, it is contested by 22 teams, with the top two teams plus the winner of a play-off promoted to LaLiga and replaced by the three lowest-placed teams in that division. The 2021–22 La Liga is the 91st season of La Liga, Spain's premier football competition. It began on 13 August 2021 and will conclude on 22 May 2022. The fixtures were announced on 30 June 2021. On 24 June 2021, the Spanish Council of Ministers resolved that spectators could return to stadiums at full capacity by means of a modification of the royal decree regulating the 'new normality', in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Atlético Madrid are the defending champions, having won their eleventh title in the previous season. Espanyol, Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano join as the promoted clubs from the 2020–21 Segunda División. The 2022–23 La Liga, also known as La Liga Santander due to sponsorship reasons, is the 92nd season of La Liga, Spain's premier football competition. It commenced on 12 August 2022 and is scheduled to end on 4 June 2023. Real Madrid are the defending champions, having won their 35th title the previous season.
