Raymond H. LaHood (born December 6, 1945) is an American politician who served as the 16th United States Secretary of Transportation from 2009 to 2013 under President Barack Obama. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives (1982–1983) and United States House of Representatives (1995–2009). In 2015 ''Seeking Bipartisanship: My Life in Politics'', a book by Ray LaHood, coauthored with Frank H. Mackaman of The Dirksen Congressional Center, was published by Cambria Press. Darin McKay LaHood (; born July 5, 1968) is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois's 18th congressional district since 2015. A member of the Republican Party, he was the member of the Illinois Senate from the seven-county 37th legislative district from 2011 to 2015. He was elected to Congress in a special election after Aaron Schock resigned. A native of Peoria, Illinois, LaHood is the son of Ray LaHood, the 16th United States Secretary of Transportation and before that a seven-term U.S. representative for the district his son now represents. He has called himself a fiscal conservative focused on budget issues. While Ray was a moderate Republican, Darin is considered more conservative. Nicolas "Nico" Anthony LaHood (born September 16, 1972) is a former criminal district attorney of Bexar County, Texas. Early life and education LaHood was born on September 16, 1972, to Judge Michael Thomas LaHood Sr. and Norma Olivia (née Mendiola) in San Antonio, Texas. While in his third year at San Antonio College in 1994, LaHood was arrested for attempting to sell ecstasy pills worth $3,600, with a firearm to an undercover police officer at a strip club. He entered into a plea bargain in August 1994 and was given deferred adjudication and probation. LaHood graduated from St. Mary's University in 1999 and then law school in 2002. Career LaHood ran for district attorney in 2010 but narrowly lost to Susan Reed. Controversies that contributed to his loss included his age, past drug arrest, and firearm charges. Mike LaHood
Mike LaHood (December 11, 1944 – May 30, 2013) was an American football guard. He played for the Los Angeles Rams in 1969 and from 1971 to 1972 and for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1970. Mike was born on Dec. 11, 1944, in Peoria to Harry Jerome and Evelyn (Wells) LaHood. Mike graduated from Spalding High School in 1964 and went on to attend the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo., on a football scholarship. He served his country as a National Guardsman in the fall of 1968. He then went on to play in the NFL from 1969 to 1972 and in the CFL from 1972 to 1974. Mike returned to Peoria in 1976 and became a laborer for Laborers' Local 165. Mike was later elected as an officer, where he served in multiple capacities and later retired as the business agent in 2001. He was most proud of his work to improve North Central Illinois Laborers' Health and Welfare benefits for his fellow brothers and sisters.
