Luma was a Wi-Fi solutions company based in Atlanta, Georgia The company sells Wi-Fi routers using mesh networking to project a consistent Wi-Fi signal throughout private homes as well as a corresponding mobile app for added layers of security and parental controls. Luma was founded in 2014 by Paul Judge and Mike Van Bruinisse, who had worked together at cybersecurity firms CipherTrust and Purewire. The idea emerged as a response to what was perceived by the founders as poor Wi-Fi consistency throughout private homes and the need for increased security as the Internet of Things (IoT) becomes more pervasive. Unified Theory (band)
Unified Theory, previously Luma, were an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1998. The lineup consisted of Chris Shinn (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), formerly of Celia Green, former Blind Melon members Christopher Thorn (lead guitar) and Brad Smith (bass) as well as Dave Krusen (drums) formerly of Pearl Jam. Following the death of singer Shannon Hoon in 1995, former Blind Melon members Christopher Thorn and Brad Smith moved to Seattle and began working on a new project. This project was put on hold following Thorn's move to Los Angeles. However, after meeting former Celia Green singer Chris Shinn, they regrouped with Smith in Seattle and, with the addition of former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen, formed Luma in 1998. Lumë ( sq-definite, Luma, literally "river") is a region that extends itself in northeastern Albania and southwest Kosovo whose territory is synonymous with the historic Albanian tribe (''fis'') of the same name. It includes the village with the same name, Lumë, which is located in Albania. The LUMA Projection Arts Festival is an annual event, typically held in early September, in Binghamton, NY focused on the art of projection mapping. LUMA'a first show was in 2015 with three installations and an audience estimated to be 20,000. The LUMA Projection Arts Festival focuses on large, building-scale installations using a technique known as projection mapping, with the architecture of the city used as the canvas. It is the largest such festival in the United States focusing on this type of art. The conference has continued to expand each year, such as adding elements of interactive media in 2018.
