Leeds Student Radio (also known as ''LSR'' and formerly as LSRfm.com) is a student radio station broadcasting every day during term time from Leeds University Union at the University of Leeds. It is also the official student radio station for Leeds Trinity University and Leeds College of Music. The station broadcasts online through its website. With over 330 members, Leeds Student Radio is one of the largest student radio stations in the country. The station is run by an elected committee of student volunteers, and the management of the station is overseen by a full-time station manager employed by Leeds University Union. The station also provides live DJs for venues within Leeds University Union and the City of Leeds. Leeds University Union
Leeds University Union (LUU) is the representative body for the students at the University of Leeds, England. It is led by a group of student sabbatical officers known as the Student Executive, and supported by around 140 full-time staff members, with up to 500 student members of staff at peak times, as well as hundreds of dedicated volunteers. The organisation's aim is to ensure that students love their time at Leeds, by representing, supporting and advising students to improve their academic experience and welfare, and through the provision of social activities. LUU represents students and their interests to the University of Leeds, as well as on a local and national scale. The Student Radio Association (SRA) is a representative body which supports and acts on behalf of the UK student radio community, comprising radio stations that are associated with or linked to a place of education. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which exists to encourage and facilitate communication between student stations. It was dissolved by Companies House in May 2018, but was reincorporated on 30 August 2019 as the Student Radio Association Ltd Ltd. History The SRA was formed following the liquidation of the National Association of Student Broadcasting (NASB), which was formed as a limited company on 5 August 1988. NASB, a Private company limited by guarantee, was dissolved in January 2002, although had collapsed as a business in 1991. That year saw the creation of the SRA as a community. Anita Rani Nazran (born 25 October 1977), better known as Anita Rani, is an English radio and television presenter. Early life Rani was born and brought up in Bradford, West Yorkshire to a Hindu father and a Sikh mother.
