Rage is a German heavy metal band formed in 1984 by Peter "Peavy" Wagner. They were part of the German heavy/speed/power metal scene which emerged in the early to mid-1980s, and have been referred to as one of the country's so-called "big four" of power metal, along with Grave Digger, Helloween and Running Wild. Rage was formed in 1984 under the name Avenger. After releasing their debut album ''Prayers of Steel'' and their ''Depraved to Black'' EP in 1985, the band changed their name to Rage because there was another band in England that shared the same name. Originally the new name was meant to be Furious Rage but it was eventually shortened to Rage. 13 musicians have been part of Rage over the years, with the most successful line-up being from the period now known as the Refuge years; this line-up featured Manni Schmidt and Chris Efthimiadis. 70000 Tons of Metal (officially stylized as 70000TONS OF METAL) is an annual heavy metal music festival that takes place on board a cruise ship. The event is a five-day festival, including one shore day at a select Caribbean destination. History The first 70000 Tons of Metal was held in 2011, and until 2014, 70000 Tons of Metal took place on board the cruise liner '' Majesty of the Seas''. In 2015, the festival moved to the cruise liner '' Liberty of the Seas'' and then to ''Independence of the Seas'' in 2016. From 2011 to 2014, the festival took place between Monday and Friday, and then from Thursday to Monday beginning in 2015. From 2011 to 2014, the cruise departed from PortMiami in Miami, Florida. Since 2015 the cruise departs from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The cruise sails to varying Caribbean tourist destinations and back. Rock Hard Festival is a heavy metal festival organized and sponsored by the ''Rock Hard'' magazine. First established in Lichtenfels, Bavaria, Germany, in 1990 on an irregular basis, mostly for magazine anniversaries, it is held annually in Gelsenkirchen, since 2003. Its 2016 edition was taken place on 13–15 May 2016. The 2003 festival was also initially planned for the 20th anniversary of the magazine as a single event. But the fans voted it as the best metal open-air in Germany and so they continued. The festival is still held at the amphitheater which is located directly at the Rhein-Herne-Kanal in the Nordsternpark in Gelsenkirchen. The amphitheater has a maximum capacity of 7,000 people. Gelnhausen () is a town, and the capital of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, in Hesse, Germany. Peter "Peavy" Wagner (born 22 December 1964) is a German heavy metal musician best known as the lead singer, bassist and main songwriter of Rage. Biography Wagner was born in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, the second of four children. His parents, both passionate amateur musicians, tried to inspire their kids for music since childhood. Eventually, Wagner learned his first instrument, the classical guitar. He started to play on the electrical guitar a few years later and, inspired by Lemmy from Motörhead, finally switched to the electric bass in the early 1980s. In 1983, Wagner founded together with the two guitar players Jochen Schroeder and Alf Meyerratken the heavy metal band Avenger. In 1986, the band's name was changed to Rage. Wagner is the only member of the band to have stayed in it throughout its history. He currently performs as the band's bassist and singer.
